Do you drink, eat after your spouse/kids/SO?

This was something that SO and I would go round and round about. Growing up it was drilled into me that we didn't eat or drink after anybody. It didn't bother SO. To him it was intimate. To me it's just plain gross. His argument was a valid one - you'll kiss me (and other stuff) so why do you find it so disgusting to eat or drink after me? He took it to mean that kissing him was also disgusting to me. That was not the case but my logic didn't stand up to his so it remained a point of contention until the day he left.

So, do you eat and drink after others?

Now that DS is older and floaters and backwash aren't an issue, I'll drink after him. I'll share drinks with DH too, but I'm not big on sharing food.

my dh and I share drinks sometimes, and he usually finished my plate for me...my dad used to have that honor. LOL! My son (15 months) and I often share stuff, too. No problems here. Usually just a family thing, though.

I'll take a drink out of a cup with a straw after ds or dh but I don't like sharing food. I think it's more that I don't like other people touching my food that is the issue for me. It grosses me out.

If none of us are sick I will :D Unless of course there's a floater issue like addicted said :teeth: I'll often go after dh's drink after I finish my own, it aggravates him, not because it's gross to him, I just drink it all! We'll share food too, and I'll share with my sister or mom now that I think of it, I actually have a picture of my DD and dad sharing a candy bar LOL

I didn't elaborate, but I'll only share with Roger or my kids.

DW and I almost always share a drink when eating at fast food places, and most definitely at WDW. You would be surprised how much money that saves. As far as eating, yes we do that as well. If DW has something good, I have no problem taking a bite of it to try it, or even finish off something after she has finished. Like your SO said, we do kiss so sharing a drink or food is no problem.

My SO wouldn't be caught dead eating what I eat and the feeling is pretty much vice versa.;) We don't even like the same flavor of drinks.

My kids will take a sample of what I have (or take the whole thing sometimes:eek: ). I don't like for them to drink out of my drink at all though. Especially my ds, he likes to leave a deposit when he takes a drink.

Everyone shares everything, except my DH. He has to be in a generous mood to let us share anything of his. If I try to take a bite of his sandwich, he'll break off a piece and give it to me. He doesn't even like to share food when we go for Chinese food. He always has to have his own dish, that he scoops out of HIS serving plate onto HIS dish.

I don't get it. It's not like I'm a leper or anything.

Yep..I eat off everyone's plate...:)

Isn't there a law of physics or something that says men are suppose to finish eating what we don't want when we are full?

In my family we pass food around all the time.

To go one step further... I share food with coworkers as well. Pretty much if have a drink out someone will come by and take a big slurp. I have one guy that asks for my doggie bag anytime I go out to lunch... he's better than a big dog at eating scraps.
Oh... in case your wondering - I work at a Fortune 500 company, were just a small group and more like family at this point.

Eating behind him didn't bother me as much as sharing the same drink. It could have been his moustache.

We had a work-related lunch, and I had soup. I finished about 3/4 of it, then my coworker asked if I was finished and ate the rest of it. I was so grossed out, but then I realized that he wouldn't have done that if he thought I had cooties. :)

Just the other day, after my Mom's surgery I went to lunch with my DH and my Dad. After we ate we decided we wanted dessert so I got a caramel sundae and they each got an apple pie. They wolfed their pies down in about 4 bites, then both looked at my sundae. DH opened his mouth so I fed him a spoonful, then my Dad opened his mouth too, so I fed him a spoonful too. Made a nice memory. :) I don't mind sharing food or drink with family, except when the kids or grandkids were little and left "floaters" in the drink...no thanks to that....but friends or co-workers, no thanks, get your own! :teeth:

I share food and drinks with family, and food and drink with some friends as long as they use their own silverware or straw
