SIL's toddler son dropped his pacifier on the ground outside, she picked it up, sucked it and gave it back to him. She told me that sanitizes the pacifier. It grossed me out and she looked at me like I was stupid and said "What?! That's your baby, everybody does that." I have never done that.....have you?

Well, I don't think it really sanitizes the pacifier, but, yes, I've done it.

Always! Well, I give it to DH to do now that DS is older (and has bad breath at times), but when he was an infant, that's what I did. Rather I got the dirt in my mouth than DS..

Since you have a wine glass permantely attatched to your hand, I'm gonna take that to mean, NO, you've never done that.

Ok, well teach me something new....shoot, I always go in the bathroom or use a water fountain somewhere. Now that she's 2, I either get it clean the right way or she doesn't get it at all. She still wants it but I try to keep it from her as much as possible.

My kids didn't have pacifiers. They were thumb suckers like their mom. Spit does clean up the face in a pinch though.

Yes, I have seen people do that and I always thought it was kind of gross! Sorry!! I just read an article that parents shouldn't do that because it puts the bacteria from your mouth into the baby's mouth and can decay the baby's teeth.

no! I am another that thinks it is kinda gross! With my first i would always take it and wash it off...with my last one i just wiped it off or made sure it wasn't dirty and then gave it back to her! Seems the more you have the more lax you get!
