Do you do anything special for Concierge?

We are staying Poly Concierge soon and I wanted to get something from home for the staff at Concierge for helping me out during our stay. What are some of your ideas? I was thinking of Myrtle Beach taffy, since that is where I live. Should I tip instead? Has anyone ever done this? Please let me know. Thanks!!

I have given specialty chocolates and also once I sent cookies, from cookies by design, it was an "Its a small world" arrangement, really nice idea I thought!

those concierge cm's can be really special!

I was wondering the same.

I don't think concierge staff at WDW are allowed to accept tips. I was going to try to pick up some candy made in Colorado and maybe a Colorado state flag pin or something like that from the state.

They are not allowed to receive cash tips. However, a lot of people brings gifts from their home state.

I didn't know what to bring from New Jersey, so I bought an assortment of chocolates, cookies and crackers from Godiva.

Love your pics of Clay... thought he was awesome myself and I'm just a "40 something" married mom of 3! We are going to stay CL level at the SWAN last week of July, so these tips are great. I'll need to put my thinking cap on for more ideas!

In the Kilimanjaro club, we encountered 3 different cast members at the desk, plus 2 very special "kitchen" help.

I gave them 2 boxes of chocolates, 2 boxes of cookies and 2 boxes of shortbread crackers.

Did you have some special requests or something at the Kilimanjaro Club? I'd love to hear all about your experiences with the lounge. Did you find that your children enjoyed the food offerings in the lounge?

The kids loved the kilimanjaro club. For breakfast they loved their little Fruit Loops bowls and muffins. We were hardly there in the afternoon, but at night they had brownies, cookies and little rice krispies treats shaped like mickey ears.

They always played classic mickey cartoons and they just loved sitting in front of the tv and watching. It was great. It actually gave my husband and I a chance to mingle and chat with other adults.

Again, worth every cent.!!!!!!

This is a good question!! Being from NJ also, I was thinking of some goodies from the Jersey shore(boardwalk)!!

It sounds like food is the way to go. I guess everyone likes to eat! I also thought about a coffe mug filled with goodies and wrapped in plastic wrap with ribbon. I also thought of a Myrtle Beach t-shirt, but that is a hard thing to buy for someone you have never met,LOL. Anyway, if anyone else has any other ideas, please share. Thanks!

I am from the Jersey Shore as well. And for the life of me, can't figure out what goodies you take? I am trying to think "out of my box", but as soon as I think boardwalk I think funnel cake. And as soon as I think funnel cake, I think, how can I get my DH to go to the boardwalk and get me some funnel cake! Maybe it is all the rain. The rain is why I can't think straight.
How many concierge treats to bring? I'll be at the poly.

Hi there

I brought godiva chocolates to the lounge staff at AKL and gave it to them on check out day - they really like chocolate!!

Just today I send a bouquet of roses to the girl at YC/BC who was able to book Breathless for me. Just a simple FTD florist bouquet with an appreciation card.

It is nice that you are thking to do this - they work hard - and not everyone thinks of them.

Hi all,

I just wanted to add my $.02. I emailed Disney in 2001 (the last time we visited the World) to find out if we could tip concierge (we were staying at the Poly). I got a reply that said the concierge is allowed to accept tips up to I believe $50 or $75 (sorry I can't remember which).

I also remember someone who posted who says whenever he stays at the concierge, he brings a few bottles of nice wine and gives them to the CMs who help him the most.

A few years back, I sent a gift certificate (I think it was a supercertificate from Giftcertificates.com) to the concierge who I emailed about 1000 times before our arrival. She really was helpful and deserved it.

For those of you (like me) from NJ, how about some of that great fudge or assorted candies that can be purchased at one of the many places at the shore?

I was thinking saltwater taffy and fudge too!! Do you give it to them when you first arrive or when you check out?

If you are bringing the taffy, I think you can give it either before or after your stay.

However if you are bringing fudge, and are bringing the really good stuff they cut and weigh as you order, I think that needs to be fresh (it does spoil if it's the good stuff). That I would give immediately.

Some of the concierge CMs get together to have a party at certain times of the year on Disney property. We have "donated" for these special occasions.

Saltwater taffy is a good idea. We wanted to "tip" a wonderful cast member, so we brought her some candy, plus a written comment card about her.

We saw her the next day, and well, she said she got the comments, and thanks, and let us in the "back area" of the ride, met her boss, and let the CM do a ride on with us during her shift...

(This was at Universal/Men In Black ride!)


The written comments help them get raises/promotions.

We tipped cash to an especially helpful CM at the Poly. It was more than 75.00 and she did not want to accept it. However, my husband was pretty insistant and she was very grateful.

I personally do not think tips are neccessary nor expected, however, when some of these CMs perform their "magic" it is really nice to be able to show your appreciation.

While taffy and candy are a nice gesture, CASH never spoils

We always tip cash. They have always accepted it and I have never heard of any of them not being able to take it. Other friends of ours who always stay concierge tip cash also.
