We have a bunch of those mickey heads from home depot on the fridge, and every day we count one down.
Trying to think of other ways to keep the excitement flowing. Thinking of trying to make dinner in mickey shapes lol.

Yes! My daughter is 3 and so excited for our trip but it is really hard to get the concept of time and when the trip is. We have a huge board and tore out 4 months from a calendar, decorated it Disney, and have countdown numbers for everyday. She puts a Disney sticker on it everyday and she loves it! I can't believe how fast time is going.

I do one at work. First thing I do when I sit down at my desk is X another day off the calendar. I love weekends..get to X 3 days off on Mondays!

I have 12 more work days, 18 more days to go!!!

We have a big poster board with mickey head sticky notes on it. Each day one of the Mickey heads has one of my kids name on it. The kid whose name is on the head gets to pull it off for the day. The last two days belong to Daddy then Mommy ;)
This way no one fights over who gets to pull off a day on the countdown calendar and they look forward to the morning they get to do it.

Yep I made a big ole posterboard when we hit 30 days! We also got some of the paint samples from HD and cut them out and numbered them. Every night before bed my DD gets to put that days Mickey up. Tonight is #21.

I need to go get some more though, becuase we are just about out. Can't wait till our trip to see the mouse. :woohoo:

How about breakfast, I am going to do that in a couple of weekends. Pancakes are easy to make look like Mickey heads and they sell these cool egg things for $3.95 that make your eggs look like mickey heads. definately a cool breakfast say a week out from your trip.

Have a great time at WDW!!

I put it on an easle on the table and I can use a dry erase marker too write things on it and it just wipes off..

I love that plate..So glad I got it and you can put different color ribbons through it for different seasons or events...
:thumbsup2

Hi

The first time we took our 3 they were 2, 3 and 5. We hung up a piece of string (similar to those you use at Christmas to hand cards up with) and had the days attached to the pegs. Each morning one of the children took down one of the days. As our youngest couldn't yet read this was a great way for them to see how close our trip was. Each day we got closer to Mickey....

You could do different pictures for each of the days - the last one being an airplane or car dependent on how you are planning to travel to get to WDW.

The kids could even colour the pictures which makes for a fun activity before your trip.

The 2nd time we went we waited right up until the last couple of days before we told them that we were going.

We sat them down at the dining room table one afternoon and gave them all a big piece of paper and pens and as it was school holidays (pre-school hols for the younger 2) we asked them what they wanted to do .... we had lots of ideas but only one of them said they wanted to go to WDW.... we surprised them by saying OK then - lets go.... it was a great vacation!!!!

last two times we have gone at New Year so we made garland chains and look a link off each day (starting in about Oct). We would put special days on the link (Halloween, Thanksgiving, DS2's birthday, Christmas ect).

We will probably do the same thing with our next trip- starting about 60 days out I think.

We have our Disney Chain! I got it from on of the dissers here! It starts at 112 days till our Disney Vacation. Each loop has a Disney character on it. The kids love it! As of today we are down to 47 more days! Can't wait!

We did a big poster (front and back). Started with 100 days. I used the HD mickey paint heads and under each one I put a mickey sticker. We also Have Disney parties on the weekend. We are going with several families, so everyone comes over and we theme the food with a movie. Lady and the Tramp, Italian. We did Beauty and the Beast and used a clock and candleabra in the center of the table. Once we watched Toy Story because at Walmart I bought toy story popcorn containers on clearance. After we eat, we watch the movie. The reason we do all of this is to spread the fun out for longer.

Enjoy:)

For our last trip, we made a countdown calendar at 100 days out. This time I am just keeping up with the days on my regular calendar. We have several discussions everyday about the number of days left and what needs to be done to get ready.

I tell DD7 how many days left every moning when we get in the car. Today was "In 15 days we will be doing this to go to DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I have one at work on my white board. I drew a Mickey head, and countdown to Disney. A few months ago I had it by month counting down, now it's by days. eeeee... can't wait.

My sis sometimes watches my DS. She decide to create a growth chart on a Disney theme. She put the different ride height (age approriate for a 2 almost 3 year old) on the chart. It helps us to get him to eat veggies and meat. lol :Now you want to get taller so you can ride xx ride, right? Eat your xx and it will help you grow bigger.":rolleyes1

Now that it is less than a month away...eeee...:woohoo: My sis also created a countdown for him. She cut our squares of paper, labeled each with a number 1 through 27 and taped them to a large paper. Square # 1 has a picture of an airplane showing that we are leaving. Each day he takes off a square.

It is a BIG to do in the morning. :yay:

So I got the mickey heads from home depot, and every 25 days we do a celebration. On day 125 we made a mickey shaped pizza. Today is day 106 and want to do something huge for 100.... any ideas as to what I can make in the shape of mickey?? I was thinking pancakes...

Love that growth chart idea. My youngest is 6 so we didn't run into him being to short to ride anything but if he was younger I would use your idea.

i have the days counted down on my work calendar for my next vacation, and underneath that is days till the wedding.

i think it makes my days longer :rotfl2:

I use my WDW Countdown iPhone app to get my family excited at home about our planned trip to WDW in May 2011 and cruise in June 2012. My DS6 now ask me to see the countdown. I like to switch up the theme image every few days.
