I hope someone can answer this soon, as I have a 7 lb. boneless ham that I need to cook. I will be in and out all day and do not want to leave my oven on when I am not here, so I was hoping to be able to throw it in the crock pot. I am still fairly new to my pot, so I'm not real sure what works and what doesn't. Any help will be appreciated.

Sure you can ,I have cooked hams in my crockpot .. just put on low as ham is precooked anyway .. it falls right off the bone and is sooo yummy - Michelle

My Hubby told me his mom used to make a ham with a couple cans of greens beans in the crockpot. I tried it once and it turned out great. Just dump the green beans in and put the ham on top and cook on low all day!

Otherwise, just a ham will also turn out great. I have done that also! Good luck.

I am assuming that a crockpot is what we call a slowcooker here in the UK, if that is so I cook ham in mine all the time, the best recipe that I have used is to place the ham in crockpot pour over a litre of Apple Juice ( add a little water if this is not enough liquid to come 2/3rds of the way up the ham) i tablespoon of brown sugar and if you like a sliced onion, and leave to cook all day (or night) and it is so delicious, the apple juice gives the ham a slight sweet flavour, its one of our families favourites.

I am making ham in the crockpot tomorrow, in fact!

Recipe:

Ham
1 can ginger ale
1 can chunk pineapple (with juice)

Mix all in crockpot, 8 hours on low, 4 on high!

Thanks for the replies. It is in the crockpot now. Can't wait for supper tonight! This is only about the 4th time I have used my crockpot so I'm still learning.

Eeyore forever,
You will love your crockpot when you start using it. I have more crockpot cookbooks now than regular cookbooks. I received my first crockpot for Christmas about ten years ago (newlywed). Actually, the crockpot was for my husband because it had Dallas Cowboys all over it! Neither my husband's mother or mine ever used crockpots, so we were totally unfamiliar. Unfortunately, we let it sit in a cabinet for a few years and collect dust. When I went back to college full time after the kids were born, we pulled it out and began using it! OH the money we wasted on fast food and dinners out before we realized what a jewel it was! We even have brought ours along to WDW when we camped and were able to come back to a hot, home-cooked meal after being in the parks all day. If there are ever any other recipes you may want, just ask! (The Fix it and Forget It Cookbooks by Phyllis Pellman Good and Dawn J. Ranck are great!)
