Awww, Teresa, was this thread for me? Thank you!!

You're so vain
You probably think this thread is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this thread is about you
Don't you? Don't you?

I had to click on this thread, thinking that it was really something juicy that you wanted us to ignore.... :rotfl2: Trickery, I say!!! :furious: :lmao:

But some of my kids have gone through the rock stage, which drove me crazy. We had rocks all over the place. We tried not to allow them inside, but they were in the garage, on the porch, the sidewalk, and anywhere else they could pile them. And they were usually boring rocks.

I love rocks. I like big rocks though for landscaping purposes. I especially like quartz crystal chunks. The quartz rocks are easily found around here there are quartz mines all over the place in the mountains.

When I saw the title of the thread, I had to click on it because of your post earlier. I just knew it was gonna be something juicy. Nope, it's really about rocks. :lmao:

My MIL always buys us t-shirts or ballcaps from her travels. I will confess that I still have a rock I took from Canada about 8 years ago. It was the first time I'd ever been out of the country and it's the smoothest rock I've ever seen.

Yeah, my mom gives nuts. Just nuts. She tries to pick them up off the ground, but sometimes she has to buy them if she can't find any. I tried to tell her that all the nuts are the same..........I mean, a walnut is a walnut in California or Ohio, you know?

She also gets really mad if the kids eat the nuts....................

Oh wow, she gives them but the kids are not suppose to eat them...... :confused3

Get out of here! :lmao: :lmao:

No, but DS does and he would probably be happy with the darn rocks IF they were cool looking :rotfl:

DH says he taking a bottle to FL so he can get water from the Atlantic because we live on the Pacific :confused3

she has a box with all of it mingled into it in her living room with a few small rocks, and a small rake,, not sure what to call it. she draws patterns in the sand with the little rake,, her husband has a smaller version on his desk at work.

There is a name for these things. I think it has something to do with "zen"? Anyway, I have seen the smaller sets for desks and it is supposed to be some type of calming thing to do? Sandboxes for adults?! :goodvibes

Froggy, I like your Kermit the Frog!! pirate:

On the other hand, my grandmother put a label on everything too, but for herself. She "graduated to heaven" :guilty: way back in 1985(?) and I still find her little notes in things. "Trip to this place, with so-and-so, 1963". Even a box of sea shells I just got from my dad. There was a little glass bottle marked," Laura, sharks tooth, Panama City, 19--". And lots of beautiful shells too - they are in my aquarium now so I can think of her when I see them.

Not the same as concrete I know - but it's a different perspective. :3dglasses

Froggyswife - I see from your avatar info that you live in Arkansas. One of my absolute dreams (crazy I know) is to get to Crater of Diamonds State park in Arkansas. I would be in *heaven*...sifting through dirt and maybe finding something that's actually valuable! Quartz(white, rose, pink, etc), kunakite (or whatever its called from southwestern Virginia. It's a pink/green stone from southwestern Virginia), beach fossils (sharks' teeth/pieces of shell/bone fragments), smooth "river" rocks...I'll pick it all up and bring it home. My big problem is that there's this stream not far from my house & it sometimes has the *neatest* looking stuff in it.

"Hi, my name is agnes! and I collect rocks."

"Hi agnes!"

But to the OP...however, I do *not* collect chunks of concrete. I do have some standards :teeth: .

agnes!

Yeah, she wants them to save her nuts..........and eat "just a few at a time"..........basically, she wants to have nuts to eat when she visits here. Why she doesn't just bring her own, or ask me to have them.................

I have the hardest time when we teach about rocks at school, making second graders understand that concrete is not a rock..................

be fore warned,, that is our least favorite state park. the "crater" is just that, a big open field, no shade, several hundfred people with shovels and junk, trying to find two or three stones a month?

not fun, we much prefered the emerald mines in north carolina, and there are several areas around hot springs that you can go into either the working mines tailings piles, or old mines, and dig for quartz, much more rewarding enterprise in our opinion.

We did that once when I was a kid. It's long and tedious and most people get no reward. Definitely only for a motivated adult who truly loves to do that kind of thing.....................

Oh phooey...but I still really wanna get there sometime. I've always been a rockhound, my first major in college was archaeology.

Which emerald mine in North Carolina do you like? That's something else i'd like to do, but I'd like for it to be a *real* one, not a place that salts the diggings with stuff.

agnes!
