Do you collect anything "wierd"?

Evening Papa,

AOL CDs?? I've got a few thousand I can send you!

I collect tulips... bulbs, silk flowers, pictures, salt & pepper, candles, purses... if it has a tulip I'll buy it!!

I collect pink flamigos :Pinkbounc They are my hometowns mascot, which is kinda wierd since I hail from Parma OHIO!! Not some warm weather haven where they actually come from. But I digress, I have stuffed animals, pictures, and lawn ornaments of course, but only the tasteful ones!! :bitelip:

Well, not so much anymore. I made a wall hanging out of them.

What is weird to one is treasure to another.

I used to collect key chains, at one point had well over a thousand.
I used to collect bears, still collect to a point, but now they are all Winnie the Pooh. :teeth:

Now I collect anything and everything Disney.

My husband also collects beer bottle caps, but not on purpose. They're all over his computer desk and he's too lazy to toss them.

I've got a wonderful collection of cat fur. There seems to be an endless supply on my furniture.

DW Lauri collects Sharpies it seems. Every time they come out with new colors she has to buy them.

My DW and I collect Penguins - plush penguins, ceramic penguins, pictures/paintings of penguins, movies with penguins in them, ovenmits with penguins, christmas lights shaped like penguins... you get the idea. :teacher: So far we have over 200+ penguin items with only one duplicate (a gift from family a few Christmases ago of one we already have... so now they are a couple, haha)

Well most people think i'm "weird" for collecting Stitch items and Disney items in general really :confused3 (THEY are the crazy ones!! :rotfl: )

I have a thing for pine cones. I have pine cones on Christmas ornaments, dishware, napkins, bird houses, linens, etc.

Not really, but have to say those AOL CD's sometimes come in handy.

DD used them for a car she had to make in physics and she started a real trend.
Seems almost everyone has a boatload of those babies sitting around.

:rotfl:

We collect hand-carved wooden ducks. Once, when we were in a store in New Orleans, we went into a collectibles store and there was a duck in a case that had won some sort of award. It was $7,000. We were commenting about how it would be nice some day to have that much disposable income that we could just buy something like that without thinking twice. As we walked to look at another display, another couple walks in and looks at the prize-winning duck. The woman says, very loudly, "$7,000 for a duck! Who'd be stupid enough to spend $7,000 for a duck!" We both started giggling because we knew that it could be us someday.

No, we still don't have any that have cost that much. But, someday... maybe...

And believe it or not, SOME of them sell for a BUNDLE on ebay! I once bought a box of them at a yard sale, mixed CDs and floppys. There were about 10 Harry Potter cds that I sold for about $15 each, and I had an AOL version 2 Floppy that I sold for over $50.

I LOVE ebay! :teeth:

RUDisney, I wonder if that duck was one of my Dad's carvings?? He started carving about 25 years ago after he went through rehab for alcoholism. His birds go for thousands now, it's amazing!! He took 3rd place in the World Championships last year. http://www.irp.20megsfree.com/ check out his website!! I'm so proud of him!!

I collect cats 'stuff'. The border in my kitchen even has cats on it. I have at least one cat thing in every room except DH's office. One of our Christmas trees is all cat ornaments.

DH collects Donald Duck stuff. He has figurines, cookie jars, shirts, hats, all kinds of stuff. Another one of our Christmas trees is all Donald.

I collect coffee mugs (even though I don't drink coffee, ha!) I don't think that's all that weird though.

In the past, I've collected tigers, pens and buttons (the kind with the metal backs...not the kind you sew on your clothes).

I collect pre-World War 2, John Tenniel illustrated editions of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It's a little bizarre, I guess, but I like it.

Cookbooks! And food history books. :)
I especially love the old cookbook pamphlets that liquor companies would put out in the 50's and 60's. There's nothing like a recipe for olive and cheese product appitizers for your next cocktail party.
