Do you clean your own house?

I used to have a housekeeper. I thought I was "the best" housekeeper until I had her come ( to my surprise she taught me a few things). This was about 10 years ago...she charged $10/hr.
After she left I had a few, but they were never good enough. I've been cleaning myself ever since. It's an endless chore. It takes me 3 hours just to vacume.
I agree with you on spending the money, if it can be used for fun, why not!

I do have my pool closed and opened, and the boat shrink-wrapped, the leaves raked...the big things.

$125/visit seems a little steep to me. We pay $60/visit twice monthly for a 4 bedroom house. I'd shop around ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) .............

I clean my own house and DH mops all of the floors. The only time I had a cleaning lady was when I had my DS. MY DH was out to sea a lot and with a baby, living overseas without my family, I needed the extra help. I had one for two years, but before that and since then I have done it myself or when I was working full time with DH's assistance.

:bounce::wave::bounce:

No, I don't, which is really sad because no one else does, either. But it's a matter of priorities and I need time to DIS. :teeth:

We have a cleaning service come once or twice a month. Between the visits, we clean the house as a family, but the "deep cleaning" is done by the service. We pay $65 a visit. Whenever they clean, the house always ends up smelling fresh and clean, whereas when we skip a month and try to do it ourselves, it never smells or looks as nice. :)

I have a nice lady come every two weeks. Even tho I am a SAHM, it is nice to have someone do the big work. She does a good job on the house and then in between I vacuum and dust a couple of times. I do "clean before the cleaning lady comes" but it makes me keep the piles and clutter to a minimum and the house stays neater all around.

I do my own cleaning such as it is. It's difficult though since DH is extremely messy and so far DS seems to be following in his footsteps.

I do intend to look into a lawn service next year though. We just don't have the time to do the yard justice.

It cracks me up...DH maintains that he is SO neat. He wouldn't know clean if it kicked him in the crotch when it comes to the house, but let a bird poop on his car and he races to the carwash!

They could trip over piles of stuff everyday and never even notice...it amazes me.

I wish I could afford a cleaning person!! Unfortunately we do it urselves, that just seems a bit frivolous to me, when there are other things that need to be paid for. (Like food) If I won the lottery, I'd definately get one. I would love a really clean house!

I've been tempted since I got injured, because DH's idea of clean is not the same as mine:rolleyes: .

I enjoy a good housecleaning session every now and then. It helps to put some good music on and really pump up the volume! My problem is that my back gets so sore, especially from mopping a whole house of tile floors. I'd like a cleaning person for the floors and bathrooms. It's difficult to find a person I would trust. The only good cleaning people I know through friends are all booked. It is hard to find English speaking cleaning people in my area and I got very frustrated the couple of times I tried that. Another girl broke quite a few things in one 3 hour period!
I think someone quoted a rate of $125 for someone to clean their house for 5 hours. That seems a little outrageous... I think $15 per hour is still average around here.
I'd have a really hard time paying someone more than I make to clean my house!

So my tile floors are dirty right now and I am going have to tackle the job tomorrow.

My new housekeeper starts tomorrow and I'm thrilled. My former housekeeper took way too much time off (the whole summer!) so we found a new one and I really can't wait. I love to come home to a completely clean house. Then I know in one week's time it will be clean all over again. It frees me up for the bigger projects like windows, closets, etc. I LOVE my housekeeper!

I do it myself.

The kids have learned not to say they are bored around me.

Well it's like this...dh is a neat freak and I am...well...NOT! :teeth:
No amount of cleaning that I have the time to do is enough to satisfy him so we decided years ago that , to save our marriage, a cleaning service was mandatory!!! The service I have now is very reasonable and they are in and out in an hour (there are 5 of them). It does get dirty almost right away but with 2 kids, 2 scout troops, 2 cats and a dog that's just the way it's gonna be! But at least there is no mold in the shower, no rings in the potty and no dust elephants under the sofa!!! It works for both of us and I am very thankful that we have this option.
