Do you clean your house before you leave?

on vacation? I do and it drives my DH nuts. For one thing, our neighbor comes over to take care of our cats and I don't want him tripping over toys and such. Plus, I like coming home to a clean house. Ok, I was cleaning out the junk drawer, but I was on a roll! And I hadn't cleaned behind the oven in ages so now seemed like a good time to do it

my plane leaves in 12 hours and I am cleaning!! I hate coming home to a dirty house!!!!

I clean the house before leaving too. It is depressing enough having to leave WDW without coming home to a dirty house! OK, I don't clean the drawers, but if it floats your boat I say go for it!

Hope you have a wonderful vacation! And just think, when you come back that junk drawer will be perfect! (No one there to mess it up )

The last thing I want to do when coming home from a long trip to WDW is clean my house. Coming home to a clean house makes me feel a little bit better about coming home in the first place (if there is anything good about coming home from WDW).

I clean my house from top to bottom. And the laundry has to be done. We go for 15 days and I don't want to come back to a dirty house.

Me too- I go on a cleaning binge right before we leave (sometimes before I pack, which is not good). I almost never get my whole house clean except right before a trip or when my MIL is coming to stay with us.

This time, though, I am really out of time and I think I may have to leave the upstairs the way it is. I can only hope that the dog will stay downstairs so my neighbor that is feeding him does not see my mess :0

yes-major clean up and get all the laundry done too! i want to come home to a super clean house (extends the magic quite a bit). this year the fridge will get a major cleaning as well-we return the saturday before thanksgiving so i want it empty when i go shopping monday morning (we will forage on whatever is in the pantry btwn. saturday nite and monday morning ).

Yep house got to be clean from top to bottom including drawers and closets, all laundry has to be washed dryed and put away. Got to admit I'm not as compulsive about the cleaning as I used to be tho. To many back problems for that and DD being ill for almost 2 yrs and taking up all my time just taking care of her broke me on a lot of that cleaning I found out there are more important things than house being white glove clean all the time.

I leave in 10 hrs and I am just finishing up the laundry. DH & DS will be home but I still like leaving the house clean before I go on vacation.

If it's a planned trip then I do the whole top to bottom clean up. It is depressing coming home from vacation. However, a messy house only makes it worse. I am usually a compulsive cleaner anyhow, so we're always pretty tidy.

Especially since a dear friend usually pet sits for us. Would be really crude to leave a messy house for her! EWWW!

Absolutely! Nothin worse than coming home from WDW to a mess!!!!!!It's depressing enough. Speaking of...I think there are so many of us going the first couple of weeks of October we may need to start a post-trip support group!!!

no one is pet sitting for us but I definately have to come home to a sparkling clean house. OK, maybe not sparkling but you get the picture.

That is just to funny. For some reason I never thought anyone else did that. I clean my house before going on vacation even if it's just for the weekend. The reason I do is 1- I'm always afraid that something is going to happen and that someone is going to need to get in my house. And 2 - My mother would always make us clean house before going on vaction.

Just finished scrubbing the kitchen / laundry room floor tonite. That is something I do on rare occasions. I do Swiffer it about once a week but this time I drug out the bucket and rag and got down on hands & knees. We don't leave until Saturday so hopefully I can have the house **** & span before we go. I'll never forget the mess we came home to after our last Disney World trip. Granted we left just hours after our wedding so our apt was trashed from all of the wedding stuff.

I always clean my house b/f a trip ( even if it's just a weekend). Less stress when you come home! I have a friend who uses a cleaning service a few times a year...she always has them come when she goes on vacation( her neighbor lets them in, and locks up). So she gets the best of both worlds..go's on vacation, comes home to a clean house, and she didn't even have to lift a finger!!!!

Yes, I totally clean...must come home to a clean house & clean sheets on all of the beds...for me, nothing would be worse than coming home to dirty sheets to sleep in.
