Do you clean up after yourself when you try on clothes? Be honest!

When shopping for clothes, I..

  • Clean up completely, sometimes even putting things where I got them.

  • Make a good effort. I never leave things on the floor.

I put them back on the hanger and return them to the rack.

I always clean up and put clothes away, and when the sales person doesn't want me to I always tell them it's no problem I can do it...LOL

I will re-hang it all and leave it hung in the dressing room or on the rack (if provided). I will not return it all to where I got it. That's part of the service I expect when shopping at a retail clothing store.
Yep, me too!

I am a good girl.

It's always been my personal philosophy that if everyone in this country had to work retail for one holiday season, the world would be a nicer, more considerate place to live in.

I was shopping with my 11 year old son and he was taking forever. Usually he brings the clothes out to me to put back on the hangers, etc. I guess he decided he was old enough to do it himself. I'm so proud!

Obviously, I hang them up. While I have occasionally put them back where I got them, I prefer to hang them on a provided rack or hand them to a clerk.

.....and a month waiting tables---- it would be a perfect world! DH and I always say it should be required before you graduate high school to do "time" in the service industry. :thumbsup2

Oh yeah, I hang my clothes on on hangers and take either to the "don't want" rack or give them to the sales person.

I always clean up after myself, whether it's shopping for clothes or anything else. If I'm at a different kind of store (e.g. craft, grocery, whatever) and change my mind on an item, I'll head back to where I got it and put it back in its proper location. I'm obsessive about that because I too am back working in retail, and it amazes me daily what utter pigs most people are when they shop. I used to work at Michael's, the craft store, and people would trash the shelves of t-shirts (and everything else, for that matter) every single day, as in try them on and then heave them on the floor, usually inside-out. For God's sake, people, they're t-shirts! Surely you should have SOME idea what size you wear and therefore not have to try on one in each size! Grrrrrrrrr. :sad2:

I put the clothes back on the hangers the way they were. If there is a rack for things I don't want I'll hang them there, otherwise I'll leave them hanging in the room.

My sisters and I and our daughters (well, at least the ones that are old enough to be able) pretty much always re-hang and put away or on rack. Our mom was in retail many many years ago and would always make us do it - or, if we were old enough and didn't - make us wait for her until she did. It's just so much easier if you hang up as you go along - split the "gotta have it" and "ugh, not taking that" on different hooks or the door.

I see those who can't be bothered as just one more sad sign of the entitlement some folks feel that it's not their job, it's what the "help" is paid for. IMHO (and I'm putting on the flame-proof suit here) how we act in a dressing room is just one more way of being a good example or a poor example to our kids and to those around us.

Clean everything up. Put the clothes back on the hanger and return them to the rack.

I also worked retail for about 6 months as a part time job, and it really opened my eyes! I never left the room with clothes laying around, but now I make sure things are back on the hangars correctly!

The one thing that I do now, is only return the item to the rack if I'm SURE I know where it went. If I don't know where, I'll leave it on the area at the front of the fitting room.

The other thing that I didn't realize until I worked retail was how often people smear makeup on clothes while trying them on. So I now make sure to pull the shirts AWAY from my face so it doesn't get dirty.

Most of the places I go, either have a place for me to return them or they actually want you to leave them in the room for them to take care of later. So most places I shop, actually do not want you to put them back. They would rather make sure they are hung properly and folded properly I guess. I do keep the room as neat as possible if they ask me to keep the clothing there.

But I always put them in the place they request or I will return them to the floor if there is no sign or any indication of where they should go.

I used to work in retail, and I know how frustrating it is to clean up the dressing rooms. I always hang clothes back on the hanger and either put them on the rack or take them back to where I got them on the selling floor.

102 people say they clean up? Then why can I never find a dressing room without clothes all over it????

I have worked retail enough so I clean up completely, hang things properly, put them away except for places that want you to put them on a special rack. I would have to say that in my experience though, 90% of women do NOT clean up after themselves, even a little.

Yes, I do, even if the salesperson says I can leave the stuff.

The place that I buy about 90% of my clothes gets upset with me because I put everything back on the hangers LOL! They tell me to just leave things and they'll take care of them. I just can't bring myself to do that. I do'nt return them to the rack though, because usually they are there to grab them before I can have a chance.

I never put things back out because I was under the impression the store would rather have the employees put this clothes back out onto the floor - I can't tell you where I got this idea :confused3

If there is a convient bar in the dressing room - I will absolutly put items there.

If there is no bar, I will put shirts back on the hangers, and any pants I fold neatly and put on the bench you sit on. I am really a spaz when it comes to putting pants neatly on hangers  Since I know it has to be redone anyway, I just fold them neatly.

Which is still better then the heap on the floor that most people will leave!
