I don't, if HE has thrown something into the laundry basket.
If he wears a shirt and then hangs it up on one of the hooks on the bedroom wall, thinking he might wear it again, and it's still there when I do a load of laundry and I want to wash it then I definitely do check the pocket, same with jeans/pants that are laying on the cedar chest. But if something is inside the basket then HE put it there himself, so I assume he has emptied the pockets. Maybe not...
Well, this morning I did a couple loads of laundry. One was a regular load, and the other was a load of his work/farm clothes (work pants, black socks, and work/flannel shirts). All of the clothes from that load were INSIDE the laundry basket so I just grabbed them and threw them in the washer.
As I'm taking that load OUT of the washer I'm noticing tiny little pieces of paper all over everything. I knew it wasn't a tissue as I have washed those before and they don't fall apart like that. I couldn't imagine what it was, until I got to the bottom of the washer. He had left his small tablet in a pocket.
Every year he writes things down in a little tablet, for spring planting and fall's harvest. He makes notes of everything in it, pertaining to the farm, planting and harvesting. He saves them each year and then can look back at last year, or two years, or whatever to see things pertaining to the farming season that year.
I feel terrible that it got washed, and is completely ruined. I guess I should have double checked the pockets of his shirts.
I think he keeps some notes in his phone too, so hopefully everything that's really important is also in the phone's notepad.
