I don't, if HE has thrown something into the laundry basket.

If he wears a shirt and then hangs it up on one of the hooks on the bedroom wall, thinking he might wear it again, and it's still there when I do a load of laundry and I want to wash it then I definitely do check the pocket, same with jeans/pants that are laying on the cedar chest. But if something is inside the basket then HE put it there himself, so I assume he has emptied the pockets. Maybe not... :(

Well, this morning I did a couple loads of laundry. One was a regular load, and the other was a load of his work/farm clothes (work pants, black socks, and work/flannel shirts). All of the clothes from that load were INSIDE the laundry basket so I just grabbed them and threw them in the washer.

As I'm taking that load OUT of the washer I'm noticing tiny little pieces of paper all over everything. I knew it wasn't a tissue as I have washed those before and they don't fall apart like that. I couldn't imagine what it was, until I got to the bottom of the washer. He had left his small tablet in a pocket.

Every year he writes things down in a little tablet, for spring planting and fall's harvest. He makes notes of everything in it, pertaining to the farm, planting and harvesting. He saves them each year and then can look back at last year, or two years, or whatever to see things pertaining to the farming season that year.

I feel terrible that it got washed, and is completely ruined. I guess I should have double checked the pockets of his shirts. :(

I think he keeps some notes in his phone too, so hopefully everything that's really important is also in the phone's notepad. :)

Nope I never check pockets. He knows that though so he’s pretty good about emptying them himself before he puts his clothes in the hamper.

My DH is the same way. Usually. :(

I haven't checked his pockets, of things inside the basket, in years. He learned to start checking them better when I washed his wallet a couple of times. :)

OMG! He has left pens in pockets and ruined several things...... :sad2:

I check now.

I follow the same philosophy as you. If my husband puts something in the wash basket himself, then I never check it. If I am gathering up random clothing items, then I check. Usually there is just a random tissue or some change. However, I have washed countless business cards, phone numbers on scraps of paper, and airline ticket stubs that he has missed removing in his own pockets throughout the last 25 years.

I don't.....I get change for DD's bank that way.
Just last laundry he left a tape measure in a pocket. He now has one less

I check every piece of clothing that goes into the wash. DH is notorious for sticking everything from random pieces of paper to usb drives in his pockets. His work uniform is the worst though because the pants are cargo style and have a million pockets.

Yes. if not who knows what I will watch pens, candy, bolts, money the possibilities are endless.

I don't check dh's pockets because he doesn't put things in there other than his wallet and phone.
I do check the kids because despite me telling them a million times to make sure they do it, they don't.

Yes, I check all the laundry before it goes in the washer. Don't want to find cough drops, keys, change, etc, that might clog up the washer somehow. Like another poster, I found my husbands wallet in a pair of pants not long ago. Called him at work and asked him if he had money to stop and get milk. That's when he realized he didn't even have his wallet, lol!

My husband does laundry. And there are a couple of times, he has walked out with something I left in the pockets. So, I guess he is checking.

Well in our household he does his laundry and I do mine. We have different ways of doing our laundry anyways. So no I don't check his stuff. But he's prone to leaving kleenexes in his pockets, he's left his chapstick more than once, cough drops and he has left pens (though luckily the cap has always stayed on), he's also washed ear buds before. So I'd hazard a guess and say no he doesn't check his own pockets every time. The only time I actually care is when he doesn't immediately clean out the lint catcher in the dryer and there's kleenex pieces caught up in it when I go to do my laundry. I clean out the lint catcher each and every time.

Sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't. I always do, if I'm the one doing the laundry.

Nope, I did when my son was little because I washed way too many rocks. I rarely put things in my pockets and if I do I take them out when I take off my clothes. Honey usually empties his pockets when he takes his clothes off but I did wash some sort of paper something last weekend, heaven knows what it was, I know it wasn't money. I have washed money before, checks, rocks, coins often get washed.

I have to otherwise I'll end up washing DHs work keys with attached thumb drives and work gate key fob, addition thumbdrives, pens, notes shoved in pockets, various business cards, washed a paycheck once (ouch!), credit cards, candy, pocket knife, etc.

I have to check because of the kids clothes too. Trying to get red meted crayon out of your light colored work clothes is not nice. Nor is melted chocolate left in pockets.
