Do you celebrate Valentine's Day? I was in the mall today and all the Valentine's Day decorations, candy, etc. were out. Do you celebrate Valentine's Day w/ your spouse or significant other or is it just another day? For my husband and I it's just another day and we never really got into it before we were married either. Just wondering what others do.

Yes we celebrate it! Whether he gives me a Teddy Bear or one single rose (no candy please:) ) or simply a hand written card....he does get a bit mushy on Valentines Day.....I always give him something small too.

We don't go out and buy each other huge extravegent things but we do acknowledge it.

If we have the opportunity, we go out to dinner - if it's on a weeknight, we go out the weekend following or the weekend before. We do usually get each other candy or sweets (we have an awesome confectionary in our town) and it's usually something small and sometimes personalized (or with a small amount of writing on it).

And usually around that time it's President's weekend so dd has a 4 day "break" so this year we are going away because dh has a meeting out of state on that Saturday. Makes for a nice reason to get out of town!!!

It's just another day between DH and I....But, DH always buys DD's some candy and a stuffed animal.

It is kinda of a tradition with me. When I was growing up, my dad ALWAYS bought home candy and stuff for me and my little sister for Valentines Day.

We usually do a nice dinner and a moderate gift exchange (nothing like christmas or birthday or anniversary) but we don't do candy or poetry or anything like that. SO has gotten significantly better in realizing what constitutes a Valentines Day type gift as opposed to other gift giving occasions. I think of valentines day gifts as something rather romantic like jewelry, lingerie, toilette items... but one valentines day back when we had first started dating (we had been together exactly 8 months on Valentines day) he got me a car radar detector and a lable maker. It has sort of been a running joke since then. ;)

Yup, we celebrate it. :) Usually with a nice dinner, card, maybe a small gift (one year DH got me a cute small Disney book of love moments from the movies).

I'm with you! We have NEVER celebrated this day. It's a lot of HOOPLA for the card companies, restaurants, and jewelers! People really get too crazy about this holiday...

I'd much rather he remember our wedding anniversary or my birthday.

do a little something, and sometimes not. However, Valentimes Day is my favorite holiday of all. I love all the red and pink hearts, and the silly classroom valentines cards. And conversation hearts RULE.

We exchange cards only, no gifts. And we have dinner someplace special, not one of our usual places.

My DH & I exchange cards and he gets me flowers.
We usually don't go out to dinner. Too crowded and crazy.
And we give cards to our DD and usually a small gift. Like the latest Valentine Barbie or a Valentine teddy bear.
This year I have matching Valentine bears from the Hallmark store for DD and the baby. Along with cards too.:D

No, it sort of nauseates me because I am the LEAST romantic person you'd ever meet!

Yes, we do..

I always get the kids who are now teens(but would miss the treats if I did not do it) small heart shaped boxes of chocolates.

I get dh a funny card and small gift. Some years we even "run away" together for an overnight splurge at a nice hotel.

We all love little surprises !

We actually usually don't go out on Valentine's Day itself because all the restaurants are so crowded. Pretty sad, huh? ;) We do usually go to dinner together sometime that week though. Last year, my fiance proposed 4 days before Valentine's so we will probably celebrate that day instead this year. :)

Nope...but we DO celebrate St. Patrick's Day!!!!!

Go figure!

YES!!! Well mostly because it is our Anniversary...Valentines day was always really just another day for me until DH decided he wanted to get married that day. we don't do anything real romantic but we always make a point of having dinner together whether we are at home or out.

We have not celebrated Valentines Day in this household for years.

Like someone else said..."It's just another day". One more day for the shops to make a mint.:(
