Do You Carry Cash?

My kids barely carry any, but my father in law carries a wad of cash. I guess it's a generational thing.

Yes - We like to know exactly how much we have as "extra" money - whether its on vacation or on a regular day - then the change goes into our bank for vacation

I wouldn't say it's generational at all. I'm probably your father-in-law's age I don't carry cash. It's more of a safety issue or convenience issue. Why incur ATM fees when you've got your card right in your pocke or make a special trip to the bank or even depending on your debit card getting cash back?

Always. I get $100 from an ATM and sometimes it lasts for two months or more. When it gets below $20 I replenish. I like having some cash for the occasional place that doesn't accept credit/debit cards. Also cash for tips for hotel housekeepers or valet parking attendants.

I usually have a little on me, generally less than $50, just in case. I rarely use it, though.

I try to have a little cash on me at all times, just in case I need it.

Almost never. I’ll withdraw some cash prior to traveling for tipping or general expenditures if we’re going some place that still relies heavily on cash, but that’s about it. If I somehow end up with cash in my purse I’ll spend it first just to get rid of it.

Right now I have $6 in my wallet. We were just on vacation a couple of weeks ago where I took $100. The $6 is what's left. Once that is gone I probably won't have cash again for a while. I usually don't carry it.

Nope. I carry my phone which has a case with slots for cards. I don't even carry a purse anymore.

I carry a little cash. $20-$40 just in case I might need some. I use my credit cards 95% of the time.

$60 right now in my wallet. Pay cash for gas and when we eat out. Too many of the small businesses I frequent are cash only, as mentioned in another thread.

I always have cash on me. At the very least, there's the emergency cash stashed in my wallet that is strictly for that, emergencies. Then I have usually have some cash for day to day spending which I'll replenish when it gets down to $5 or less.

I carry cash at all times, yes. Because I'm on SSI for my mental illness my bank account has a representative payee for my checks in direct deposit, and so the debit card has their name on it; I only use it for the ATM and online purchases. I always pay cash in stores.
