Do you call MS to confirm your ressie before leaving?

If so, how long before you go? A week? Two weeks?

Just wondering b/c there seems to be a spike in dropped/changed reservations (on the part of MS) and I wondered if it would be a good idea to double check.

Have others done this or is it just me and my neurotic, overplanning tendencies? ;)

We've never had a problem in ~12 years of DVC membership. And we visit 4 times a year so that's about 50 visits.

I never have. Are you a member? You can check your reservation on the member website.

To be honest, with all the reservation mixups on the boards recently, I am thinking about calling tomorrow to verify. We have a cash reservation, so I cannot check it obsessively on the member site every day til we leave.

Now, keep in mind that I have OCD, so the neurosis does fit in their somewhere. ;)

For the last several trips, our DVC guide has sent us an email reminder a few days before the trip.

So, I had to check. We're still confirmed, per the DVC Member site.

CarolynK: I've never heard from our guide (we purchased via resale), so I doubt I will hear from her regarding our trip. It's nice that yours keeps in touch.

I check my reservations online from time to time just in case. I can't recall anyone reporting that the reservation information on the website was any different than what MS has in their system. So if it looks OK online then I don't see any reason to call MS.

The problem with viewing vacation details on the website appears to be fixed. You can go straight to that page now without detouring through the Annual Dues page.

I used to, but then I read a thread (I can't remember the details) that convinced me that the more times you give people the opportunity for those little fingers to access the keyboard with your reservation "open" (being viewed), the greater the chances of something going wrong. So now I just look on the member's website and hope everything else is OK.

I don't check our room ressie but I have called to make sure that the dining plan was added. When they don't list it on the confirmation I have been scared that it wasn't really there.

If you have a ressie booked through Double Developer points, do they not show up in "upcoming vacations"? Our March 2008 trip isn't showing on the member services site, but we have the confirmation letter in hand.

I never thought to call and double check the ressie due to the confirmation letters we receive. I do call and double check ADRs as sometimes we've gotten some loopy CMs on the phone.

Reservations made with developer points do not show up online. So in that case if someone was concerned they would have to call MS to ask about the current state of the reservation. But I agree with Simba's Mom about the risk involved whenever you ask an MS CM to pull up a reservation. :scared1:

After our trip to SSR in October, I'll be calling the resort to check from now on.

Altho everything was good according to MS, when we checked in I wasn't listed on the reservation, and our requests weren't in their computer. It all got sorted out, thankfully, but I'll call next year to make sure.

We currently have 2 cash reservations and they mailed us confirmation notices for both of them - but I will still be sure to pack the notices to take with us when we go as proof (just in case). But I will also be calling back to add ME to our trips so I'll be able to double check them when I do that too.:goodvibes

Never have, but I guess it doesn't hurt to double check. All it takes is a phone call so, for peace of mind, why not?

I usually carry the confirmations for our cash reservations with me as well, especially if I get the member discount, just to verify the amount. :)

We do have our confirmations and our guide just emailed us to say have a good trip, so I am not overly worried.

Just really excited!!

We have a reservation for a June trip with our regular points that I just switched over to Developer Points last week. I was assured by MS that even though our reservation would show as canceled on the DVC website, that we would still have our reservation. They also told me that I would get a confirmation email for the DP reservation. I haven't gotten that.
Now I'm really worried!

I don't think I have ever gotten an email confirmation from MS for anything other than ME, although with DP it may be different. :confused3

I made a reservation change for our May trip on 11/14...the paper confirmation just came in the mail yesterday, so with the holiday, it seems they are taking the 10 business days to arrive. We usually get them within 3-4 days.

I check online for a few months, and I also do print screens of the web site to go with the confirmation they mailed me. 1-2 weeks out I call MS to confirm ME and DDP are on my ressie, and double check room requests. Then I bring the paperwork with me in case there's issues when I check in. There hasn't been so far though (knock on wood)....
