We are leaving on Thursday for 9 days at BCV. I was planning on taking my laptop and was wondering if anyone else has done this. I have a wireless card and was hoping to upload some pix and post here while I am there. Does Disney have wifi?

TIA

I bring my laptop and visit the Disboards, EBay and work stuff when I am relaxing in the evening just before bed.

It keeps me in tuned with the real world.

We bring our laptop but don't usually connect to the internet, we just have it so we can download our pictures from our digital camera to a saved file in our c drive

We got home this morning and I used my laptop a few times, mainly for work. It's nice to bring along if you can and to download photos.

We usually bring a laptop, but it's not for internet access. I bring it so I can download audio books to the pc before I leave, listen to the audio books on the drive down and back up to home, and pretty much never touch the laptop while I'm there.

However, I looked at that link provided above. The Poly was not listed as having any type of wi-fi or high-speed access. Anyone know when they might have that? I wouldn't mind having access while I'm there in October.

Yes we bring it on all our vacations. We have our won internet based business, which needs tending to every day. We also use it to download our pictures everyday and to watch movies on the plane. It's a love hate thing, it allows you freedom but its always there. We have Verizon wireless service and it is excellent...works everywhere, this way you don't have to depend on a hotel for a hot spot.

Thanks for all your responses.

Do you think that my wireless card would work from the room or would i have to go down to the lobby...

I bring my laptop with me. It is great for transferring over my digital pics. I also use it to write my trip report at night. It is easier for me to do this after every day than once I am back home. When I stayed at the BW they would charge for using the wireless from my room but in the lobby it was free. I saved money and walked to the lobby when I needed it. I also used it to make sure I had money on my debit card. I sometimes loose receipts so it was a nice way to keep track of money. When I am at Disney however I will only use it when necessary. Part of the reason I am on vacation is to get away from things! I like knowing I have it but rarely use it for E-mail/work.

We always do. Me, DW, DD18, & DD17 all use it extensively.

Yup! Mainly for uploading digital pix. We would upload every night, and edit and play with them.

We just used dial-up, at 75 cents a pop, so we only checked e-mail a couple times a day. But it ended up being a Godsend when we had it last September when we got stuck in WDW two days extra for Jeanne. We were able to use the internet to find out our options for getting out of town and also I was able to go on the Dis and get advice from you wonderful people about options. We used the dial-up several times a day when we were sequestered.

It will be nice when they get high speed, although I don't know if I'll shell out the $10/day or whatever. It will be good to have the option.

I take my laptop...I like to check the boards when I can and of course its easy to check sports stuff Im missing and email.

Thanks for all the wonderful information, everyone. I will be bringing my laptop with me to WDW for the very first time soon. I am looking forward to the day when all of the Disney resorts have high-speed Internet access (and Wi-Fi access).

... for free like you get with a $69.99 room at Comfort Inn.

Are there available internet computers in the lobby of the hotels? We're staying at POR, and they're not on the list for having in room internet access.

:confused3

There is in room internet access at POR. It is dial up access through a data port on the side of the telephone. It is 75 cents per call.

Thanks, Safetymom. How fast (or slow!) is the dial-up? It's been years since I've had it. We use DSL...
