My brother in law is the most cynical person you could wish to meet but a few weeks ago he had a very surprising encounter...
he was sent last minute to a town a few hours away to cost a job as his business partner was unexpectedly caught up and whilst there an old woman called him by name in the street and when he asked her how she knew his name she said she knew him very well and could she tell him a few things? he was looking around for the hidden cameras when she congratulated him on his upcoming marriage (he was getting married 3 weeks after this date) and asked him to ask her some questions. OK he thought, if she knows so much about me I'll ask her what my bride to be's name is. The old lady took his hand and asked 'Is she foreign?' Shaun says 'no' so the lady says 'that's odd, I'm getting Wanda or Vanda or something', Shauns wifes name is Vanda which is definately not common round these 'ere parts!
she then went on to tell him he'd been married twice before, once to a very nice lady who was taken before her time and she was an angel (my sister died just married to Shaun aged 21, her name was Angela) and then the lady told him that a very bad lady took all his money but left him 2 sons, (true again, Eileen bankrupted him but had 2 sons by him) and that one was academic but the other was away with the fairies (now thats Jon and Zac to a tee!). She said his next wife was also very bad and would be trying to get more money out of him, (again Debbie has tried to swindle money since they got divorced). She then went on to tell him that Vanda would make him very happy and that he'd soon get some unexpected money but not to worry, for once it wouldn't be connected to pain and suffering.
He got 5 numbers on the lottery on saturday and got 2 grand.
when she'd finished with him she said she'd see him in 2 years time.
He was emotionally stunned and went and sat in his van to collect his thoughts. As I said he's the most cynical person you'd know and was knocked for 6, he also has no idea how long she was with him, it could have been ten minutes or could have been an hour.
So, do you beleive that some people have this gift?

Wow !! That's amazing. Congrats to your brother in law for his lottery win. I do believe that some people have these kind of gifts, but what an extraordinary way to meet someone like that ~ just by chance

Bizzare,

I am cycnical on stuff like this. I guess the historic stuff she could have known somehow but not the future lottery win :confused3

Wow that is incredible! And spooky!
My mother has an uncanny knowledge - she`s the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter and a very down to earth 81 year old Yorkshire women. However she speaks my thoughts outloud, she see`s things and has very definate feelings when things are going to happen :confused3

Woah, Carol, that is so scary! I'm not surprised he had to sit down a while afterwards, he must have been very freaked out. I am a believer - I'm not sure how you couldn't be after a story like this.

Merylj, have you ever read Groosham Grange by Anthony Horowitz? It's about a school for people who are seventh daughters or sons, of seventh daughters or sons, who have magical powers. It was my favourite book when I was a kid.

When I was a baby we were involved in an accident where a motorcyclist was killed (he pulled out of a side street as my Dad was driving along the main road :sad2: )

Needless to say my Dad was pretty traumatised then, several months later, he was approached by a total stranger in the street who told him all about the accident we'd had and said that she'd been asked, by the motorcyclist, to find my Dad and tell him that he (the motorcyclist) knew the accident was his own fault and that in no way did he hold my Dad responsible.................. :scared1:

From what I can gather my Dad almost ran all the way home and wouldn't talk about the conversation for ages.......... :ssst: :

oh, Alison, your poor dad, I do hope he eventually gained closure and accepted the message for what it was. :grouphug:

I think, 40+ ( :rolleyes1 ) years on, the memory still gives him the 'wobbles' ;)

I know that, whenever he drives anywhere, his maximum speed has been 'snail pace' ever since and, if he can, he'd rather walk......... :goodvibes

I totally believe that people have the 'gift'.

I do do believe some people have a gift whether to know your past and future, or tell things. I had a lady at my work and one day she came up to me and said Is your wife pregnant? She had never ever seen my wife and over the weekend before we knew she was to have our second child. NOONE apart from us to knew as she wanted it to be a secret until the doctors had seen her as we had problems before.

There wasn't anyway of her knowing it and she just came out with it, for no reason she called it 'a gift'.

I also have read and encountered a bit about soul mates. When you meet someone and you immediately know them, as if they are brother sisters or the x? They say to meet loved ones again and again and I have met and made friends with a couple Strange?

I also belive too. Your BIL must of been so shocked.

I'm very open-minded. I'd certainly like to believe that it's possible and I've no reason to believe it shouldn't be.
