Do you believe in ESP?

I think that's deja vu. I used to have that happen a lot. It doesn't happen as much anymore to me. I read something somewhere that said deja vu moments are sign posts in life that tell us we are exaclt where we are supposed to be.

I believe in ESP. It's a fact. Some people are more sensitive than others. I just recently had a sleepless night a a feeling of dread hanging over me and sure enough the next day I found out one of my kids had done something he shouldn't have and is in trouble with police. I didn't know a thing about it but I must have sense trouble was brewing.

I've had dreams where I've seen a scene play out in exact detail and then lived it when it really happened but I think that's deja vu. I've often had feelings about people and places. I remember my Dad was a business owner and he took on a partner. I met his business partner and instantly didn't like him. I told my Dad not to trust him. He wouldn't listen. Not long after he found out this guy had embezzled so much money from him he had to close.
Wow, I had no idea that it has been proven that ESP exists. That is very interesting.

Since I said I do not believe, I would really be fascinated to read the research. That is not snark, I would actually be fascinated.

Would you please link some of the research that proves ESP is a fact?

I read it like that too, but I think she is saying that it's a fact that she believes in ESP, in which case she is correct.

I believe the sensations of ESP and deja vu could be explained away by the many worlds theory/interpretation, but that relies on putting your belief system in intangible science rather than supernatural or paranormal mumbo jumbo. Either way, we'll never know.

The period was in the wrong place. It should've said its a fact that some people are more sensitive than others.

I believe it exists and have had certain times in my life where it was more prevalent than others.

It was extremely strong in my late teens until late 20s.

I still have a dream the night before a bad airplane crash.

I have never had an episode that was about my immediate family, but many about friends/relatives.

As I have aged the only part that remains is the dream before a plane crash.

Will, then provide the research that proves some people are more sensitive than others.

I had a dream years ago that I was floating in the ocean among metal debris and fire. I knew that there had been a plane crash and the debris around me was from the plane. I felt there were people surrounding me too, but that they were not going to survive.

It was so strong, so very realistic, this dream, that I told my Dh and my mom about it.

Very shortly after, I remember watching the breaking news of TWA flight 800 and literally falling to my knees. The ocean, the debris, the fire....I had been there in my dream :sad1:

Its common knowledge the same way that we know some people have more sensitive palates or more sensitive senses of smell or more sensitive skin. There are probably thousands of scientific studies. Far more than I could ever link here. We know for a fact some people are more sensitive than others. The studies are more about taking sensitive people, exposing them to stimuli and reading brain scans or recording reactions. I can't believe you would even question it. As if we are all equally sensitive in every way. Haven't you ever heard of people who are people persons? Even they are sensitive in their own way they can "read" people which means they are more sensitive to picking up on social cues making it easier for them to relate to others compared to those who are less sensitive and will miss social cues and say inappropriate things. I don't know how to prove the obvious...sorry.

I do believe that there are people who are more sensitive or intuitive to the things around them. I am no John Edwards or Sylvia Brown, but I have often have little ESP moments, like knowing who's calling when the phone rings (without looking at the caller ID ;)) or somehow "knowing" when something is about to happen, and a few minutes later it does...nothing big like a plane crash or something but just a "feeling" that someone is going to stop by and a few minutes later they show up.

I have also done the thing where I have thought of someone that I haven't seen for years and usually within 24 hours I either see them or hear something about them.

I believe there is more to our world than what we see. And no, I have no research to support that feeling. It's just what I believe based on my experiences.

This is me too.

I prefer the word "Open" to "Sensitive" as in a closed mind can not receive these messages. I don't mean as in they don't believe but, rather their mind can not. I think this because my mother was, always sad that she could not "feel" my father's presence after he died; where I and interestingly, only one of my two brothers could.

I also think "Intuition" because it is an instinct whether the mind is open to or closed, everyone has this.

I don't get get all hung up on the semantics of what to call it, but yes, of course I believe. I've had too many experiences myself not to.

Yup, totally believe. There have been very specific things that I've dreamt about that have actually come true. Too bad they haven't been lotto numbers!

No.

If you wait long enough, you can always find something that agrees with what you "dreamed."

And not only that, in this case, reality didn't agree with what she dreamed and she had to insert a God did it to make it square up.

This is the type of post that makes a thread go south. It's akin to talking about someone while they're standing right there. Why not addresss the poster directily if you have questions or comments about her post?

Do you know every single time the phone rings? And I mean every single time?

Otherwise, it is just the law of averages that your mind will guess who is calling and it will be that person.

Are you ever wrong? I mean, even once? That you think it is X calling and it turns out Y? Because then again, your percentage of being right is not ESP, it is an educated guess.

As humans, we have a funny little thing where we remember all the right things and then tend to forget when it doesn't happen that way.

So, we remember all the times we are right in guessing who is calling on the phone, but our subconscious conveniently ignores all the time it is wrong.

Yup :thumbsup2

Maybe, it is the Fear of God not addressing the pp.

I think even those who do not believe there is such as thing as ESP or such a thing as being sensitive to their surroundings and the people and things in those surroundings have to admit that like animals, humans have instinct. For those who say it is not possible to be sensitive...have you never had the experience of feeling someone looking at you and you look up and someone is watching you? How do you explain that? You didn't see them looking at you...you felt it. It's no different but it's about levels. That primary instinctual feeling that someone is following you or watching you is so basic every human being has it. Sensing things before they happen or sensing things about other people are on the same spectrum just further on the scale.

I'm not sure if I believe in ESP, but if a person is making money off of it, I think it's hooey.
