I love cryptozoology, so yes I believe. For those of you who don't, think about this. Gorillas, pandas and kangaroos were once all considered cryptids or mythical.
For the love of God it's 2020....PLEASE stop talking about sea monsters. Are you trying to get Godzilla to rise??
SHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!A lot of myths and legends have some basis of truth. St. Columba is said to have saved fishermen from "Nessie". Native Americans respected "Champ" for centuries. I think people have seen rare creatures for years but as development in society grows, the sightings go downs. Most wild animals fear human contact, why would a "shy" creature like "Champ" be any different? We know less about the world with all our modern technology than we think we do. The oceans of the world are huge and we have not yet researched all parts of them. If Atlantis existed, that may be a reason why we have not found its ruins yet. Just a thought.![]()
SHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
No....I'm saying Shhhh. It may be that you missed the fact that my original post was meant as a joke. Are you trying to say shy? Genuinely asking.

How does Nessie get from Loch Ness to Lake Champlain? There must be some underwater wormhole or something she goes through that we can't find.
Boated for years on Champlain. Never believed in the thing.
What time of year, if he said, did he see Champ?I know a a guy who worked on that lake as a party boat captain out of Burlington. He said he saw something twice. He’s a believer.
He wasn’t drunk when I spoke with him and he sounded believable at the time.
No one ever said it was Nessie. Probably a distant uncle that no one in the family talks about but a completely different animal. That said, since the sightings are few and far between apparently Champ never married and is at least 150 years old.How does Nessie get from Loch Ness to Lake Champlain? We have our own version here in Canada....the Ogopogo .

As I grow up in Montreal, we would go to take trips to both Vermont and New York and go to the beaches along Lake Champlain almost every summer. I remember hearing stories about Champ.
I think they are just a myth but who Knows.![]()
Most people think Champ is a plesiosaur. Others think it’s a prehistoric giant eel. I think all of the creatures interact with each other one way or another. One thing I wish would happen is that the US and Canadian Navies would do scientific research in the lakes. In the least they would find out more information about our country’s ecosystem. They probably could also locate the secret underwater caves/tunnels rumored to exist and hide such creatures. I once heard a story that’s around 150 years old that three fishermen heard that the beast lived in a hidden cave off the shoreline. They went to go see it for themselves on a dare. They found “Champ” asleep peacefully in what they described as a den. They shouted in shock and it attacked them (probably in defense). Injured, they ran into their boat and went as fast as they could to the other side of the shore. Champ chased them in the water, but when the reached land, they ran to the town explaining what was happening. The town people ran to the shore but found no champ. Supposedly there were imprints in the sand of a large creature but nothing identifiable. The towns people went to the cave later but found nothing there (supposedly they only went looking in the cave’s opening but not much further in). I don’t know if the event happened, but I find it a cool legend. Champ is protected legally under NY and VT state law, which I think is pretty cool. I still think if we put a submarine in that lake, we would find out the truth. I also wish locals would post where this supposed cave is. How hard would it be to put a camera in there year round and see if Champ ever turns up? Thoughts? You guys win for best name! That's fun to say - Ogopogo!
Seriously, I'm not one to really "beleive" in these things in that they are a mythical creature or anything, but I do think that people see something though. There is a reason for the persistence of the stories after all. It could be an animal of some kind, maybe even one that hasn't been discovered, but I think if we did find one it would be a pretty normal type of thing or an offshoot of a known species.
