Do you avoid parks with early EMH?

I've read quite a few posts talking about staying away from early emh parks. My question is WHY? Why miss the only hour that you have the parks without the thousands of people who come from outside the resorts? I've been on our boats for an 8am emh when only the first couple of boats have been full. People do sleep in on vacation--even at WDW :confused3 , they go to breakfast, etc. When you get to MK for emh and see a ton of people going through security, that's nothing at all for a park that size. If you get to MK for gate opening, you can go to any area that you want to, and get on a ride. Always get a FP first thing, and pay attention to the time that you can get another. Try to have 2 FPs working for you all of the time. Folks, if you are there early, you can easily do 5 rides and get 2 FPs before it gets crowded--then jump on the cruiser for breakfast at Trails End and enjoy the rest of your day. You can sit there and smile knowing that you've done more in a couple of hours than the people just going in will be able to do the rest of the day.

We sometimes avoid these because we are the ones who want to sleep in on vacation! We would rather sleep a little later and go to a less busy park. However, that is only for part of them...we catch a couple EMH morning hours. But now with the evening ones, you won't catch me at a morning EMH after a night one!! :)

Everything you say is true, but by avoiding the EMH park and going on the day after that park has EMH, you can pretty much do the same thing, just without getting up an hour earlier.

And, for parks other than MK, EMH is of very limited usefulness, because the number and variety of attractions open is much smaller. We've done MGM EMH and found that we got bored waiting around for the rest of the park to open, since our daughter was too small for RnR and TT.

EMH can be good or bad for each particular family. It depends what you want and how you use it.

we avoid emh because we like to sleep in on vacation. ;)

We find EMH(morning) works great for us because we get up early anyway. Ican't sleep when I'm at WDW! We get a lot done in that first hour. Then when it starts to get crowded we hop to another park-usually the one that had EMH the day before. If you are a late sleeper, then the night EMH is probably a better idea. I want to try it, but I don't know if I'll be able to fuction that late. When we were there for MNSSHP we had a hard time making it after 10. We stayed until 11 and we were whipped.:faint:

We generally like to avoid the morning EMH's. We did EMH at AK last May. We got there early, along with a zillion other people. There was even a long line just to get a fastpass for Kilamanjaro Safaris! We also like to sleep til like 9 or 10 and then stay up til 1 or 2 am. The evening EMH's are much better for us.

We love morning emh. No matter what anyone says, you get more done in the first two hours of the morning, than you could ever get done on a regular day. Then when the time comes we hop to another park, my midafternoon it is nap time and we are fresh for a wild and funfilled evening. Get just as much sleep as those that sleep in, plus we get more done. Yes indeed, morning emh works great for us. On a side note, I would like to encourage more people to sleep in. My family will make sure that morning emh is still enjoyed.

We enjoy the early hour, at MK. We RUN straight to Dumbo. We usually make a late PS, for breakfast, and then take off for a different park. This year the early day, at MK is the 8th day of our 9, so I suspect, getting everyone rousted out of bed, might be difficult. If we find Dumbo, with short waits, before then, we will sleep. It's my DD (6), most favorite thing.

Other than that, we usually don't get up early for any others. Sometimes, DH, and oldest will go to Epcot, to get the rides that younger sis doesn't like, and we let her sleep in.

Not sure how we will do with the hours in the eve. We are planning on MK, because we like that park, in the dark. Maybe Epcot too. Not sure yet.

Avoid am EMH at AK. It's a ZOO. I know, I know..."it's not a zoo" :)
There are not many things open and there are loads and loads of people. It's not well organized and we said we'd never do an am EMH again at AK.

DS13 does not like EMH at MK. There isn't much open for him to do. So, last year we went and I made a ps for Crystal Palace for DS and DH. He doesn't like it either because there are not counter services places open for real breakfast food. He doesn't like pastries so he was straving too. It worked better last year when they did the breakfast at Crystal Palace.

This year, I guess I'm trying to let us vacation more by not going to the EMH.

My DH and DS think that being at the Park for regular 9:00 am opening is pretty early for vacation because of this we never consider EMH. I'm excited to try the evening hours in May though.

We're ones that never sleep in, even if we tried! We take full advantage of EMH and hope everyone else likes to sleep in!

AGREE! We always go to emh in the morning as we are early risers anyway. We get more done that way. Then by 1:00, we are ready for lunch and to head back to the hotel for a swim/break. In the evening we go to a different park. So please....SLEEP IN!! We will return the favor when we head for bed early on emh evenings. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

Well, now that MK's opening at 8 AM and EMH will be 7 AM, am not sure how we'll fare. If it were just hubby and I, we'd pass on EMH AM and go for those fun-sounding late night hours. But our kids are too young for that, so early it is.

Best guess is we'll make it through security just in time for regular park opening. Darn it, if we never had to eat or sleep, we'd be there for opening ceremonies!:goodvibes

I have seen this in two posts and had not heard of it. Is this going to be for everyday or just during peak season? Where did you read/here about this? If this is the case, I am THRILLED! princess: pirate: :earboy2:

The days that I picked for Epcot and MGM are EMH days but we are not doing the EMH. DH is on 2nd shift so he does not like to get up early. I hope this all works out o.k. We are doing it this way because we have never seen Fantasmic and it is a must do for us this trip and the day is an EMH and has 2 sittings for Fantasmic. We are gonna do the 2nd show. I know we could park hop but I figure Epcot will take the whole day and we are staying to watch Illuminations.

Just know that it will be busy on those days. I don't think Epcot will be too bad, but if you want to ride the biggies, do them early and get Fast Passes early too. When we were at MGM on an EMH, the Fast Passes for Little Mermaid were out to 4:00 at 11:00.

When we went to MGM on the EMH day the week before Christmas 2004 and we split up DH & DS and myseld and DD, it took us each 1 hour to go through the lines (TOT and RnR). We went back the next morning when it first opened, and we got through in less than 20 minutes on TOT and RnR. This year, I'll sleep in that extra hour.

Just thought of something...why not start at the other park with the non EMH and then hop over for the evening shows so you can avoid the crowds on the EMH? I hope that made sense. Sounds like you have hopping on your tickets.

Unless you are there over Easter and you're worried the parks will close. I don't know when you are going.

We just got back from our first trip to WDW, and went to MK EMH on our first morning. We were able to wake up Tinkerbelle, be the first ones on Dumbo, rode it twice, rode PP twice, rode Pooh, rode the carrousel... all before 9AM. It was great!! I will always do EE at MK!!
