We are leaving next week for Disney! yeah!!! We're taking my DS, almost 2.5. Have any of you thought about the what IF he got away from us in a crowd? Do any of you put any phone numbers or ID's with your kids just in case? We obviously don't plan on losing him/leaving him. I just know of someone who's 4 year old got lost in the crowd as a parade was breaking up, which made me think about this.

Thanks!!!
Rachel

There are several websites that make all different kinds of things. You can get rubber bracelets with your name and cell number. You can get metal dog tags with all the information, and there are even little stuffed animal looking things that attach to the kids shoe with all the information. If your leaving in a week, you may not have time though. Go on over to the DISign board and I'm sure if you ask there, you can have someone make something really cute for you. Then just take it to Staples or wherever, have it laminated and tie it to your kids belt buckle.

Have a great time!!!!!!

My kids have the disney dog tag necklaces with their names and my cell phone. I've heard some people just get the tags from pet stores.

Yes, I had my DD wear a bracelet that I got from here:

www.id-inside.com

and I put my cell number on the paper inside the bracelet. On our past Disney trips, my DD was 4, 5 and 6 and we used the bracelet....but even this past summer, when she was 7 1/2, I still pinned a small tag to her shirt with my cell# on it. She does know my cell number but I was afraid that if she was lost and panicking, she might forget my number.

The website One Step Ahead has the safety tatoos on sale this week for $6. They are the kind you write your cell number on and then apply. I plan to get them for our December trip.

During our past three trips we hadn't done anything like this, except during this past trip we stopped in WOD at DTD (I think that is where it was at least) and bought a chain tag necklace from a fancy engraving machine for our DD, but the necklace turned green. So we stopped using it. It was cute, just needed higher quality metals.

Other than that she never really wore anything and usually held our hand or rode in her stroller. Maybe she is too attached to us or something, that we never really had any trouble with that?

Have a great trip!

A tip I got from these boards was to get an ID tag from Petsmart. They have a machine where you pay, put in your info and it spits out a tag. I got one for $9 for DS2 for our trip next month and I'm going to put it on his shoe. I put his name and our cell numbers on it. Super easy and not obvious enough to be distracting in every picture, but still noticable enough to someone if he gets lost.

Other posters have made some great suggestions. I am going to use the one from PetSmart. Thanks!!! Just please...please...do not put the name of your child on the id. A little girl was lost at WDW the last time and she had an id with her name, address, and phone #. I brought the child to the nearest CM but someone less honest could have really taken advantage of knowing her name. It was her home # by the way so there was no way to get a hold of the parents. They did finally did find her BTW.

We use the tattoos with your phone number but being that you leave in a week you would have to rush order it. Just google tattoo ids for kids.

We have tried tattoos, they worked ok, but they would be wearing off in places and were hard to wash off so I had several on their arms at any given time at various levels of wear.
But I had best luck with a sharpie... sounds bad, worked great. Wrote mine and my husbands cell phone #s on their forearms and reinked them the next morning. No chance of them taking them off or losing them and basically free!

We got silicone bracelets from reminderband.com. One said "Dad" and his cell phone number and the other said "Mom" and mine (so we could switch out if someone forgot to charge their phone). I'm not sure if you would have time to get them before a trip next week, but I remember they came very fast after they were ordered.

Yes, I had my DD wear a bracelet that I got from here:

I've used "ID Inside" on every trip with DD, first when she was 2.5. She loves wearing her hot pink "bracelet," which I actually always put on her ankle.

On it we put cell phone numbers for me & DH, along with the name of our hotel.

Luckily though, DD has never gone missing on any trips (yet).

We also use the id-inside bracelets. We've had them for about 3 years now and have worked wonderfully. And my kids always have a super hard time even trying to open the velcro.

OP, at this late date, I would try to get dog tags from a local pet store. Just put your cell number on it.

For my DD5, she has a Disney lanyard for pin trading that has the clear pocket on it and it has a picture of the princesses on one side and then on the back is my cell phone number that says "In case I get lost please call". She also knows my cell phone number, but better safe than sorry. She has been been doing the pin trading for 3 years now so it was just an easy option to put the number on the back of the character card. I also tell her each year that should we ever get separated then she is to go to the first cast member she sees and let them know she needs help and to show them the cell #. I think that is the most important thing is to let your kids know that they should find the first cast member they see and ask them for help. I always show my daughter the name tags at the hotel and then again at the park and remind her what the tags look like.

We went to Wal-Mart and got the metal dog tags and put them on the kids shoes. They had their name, our cell phone numbers on them and were CHEAP!

I looked into TONS of options and what tip I liked the best? sharpie on thigh/leg. I didn't like the idea of ANYONE being able to look at names and such on various things. and that is hidden and the child knows where it is. creative, CHEAP. I like that!

I understand that concern about someone seeing it, but no one can read the dog tag on their shoes unless they are down there looking. :) Plus, we turned them so the non-engraved part was showing.

I don't like the idea of writing on my kids -- sharpies stink to high heaven and I wonder what chemicals are in them! But if it works for you, GREAT!

I got my DD4 her dog tag from Walmart but they had cuter ones at Disney! She wore it everyday around her neck & it didn't bother her. It had her name, my name-cell # & hubby's name-cell # on it. She knew why she had it on...and when she went to meet Tink...Tink asked about it! :tinker:This Tink was the cutest, she talked soo fast & asked soo many questions about the dog tag. DD4 told her it was if she got lost someone could call her mommy & daddy...Tink asked, "How do they call them? With bird calls? What's a phone?"
So cute & it made her feel even better about wearing it.

I tried the Safety Tats - they have two versions. One is a press-on tattoo, which is pre-inked with both cell #s (just says: I'm lost, please call xxxxxxx). The other version is a stick-on, that lets you write whatever you want on it.

http://www.safetytat.com/

I tried both to see which I liked better and it's a toss up. The tattoo allows for two #'s and is easy to read, but doesn't last very long (one day, and wears off with sunscreen, rubbing, etc.) and is difficult to remove - alcohol wipes work best.

The sticker lasted 3+ days, which I loved, but I had to write my own info on it, and I can only write so small, so I could only fit one #.

They have multiple designs for boys and girls and are also great for kids with allergies.

My neighbor just told me about Who's Shoes ID tags that velcro onto a shoe. They fold over so you can't see the info unless you open the velcro strip. I'm getting these as well. And one for DH who is a runner.

(I don't know how to insert a url link, so you can just cut & paste).

I was originally going to do the bracelet things, but I tried some that I already had on my kids and they balked at the idea - so I figured I'd rather not fight to keep them on. My kids are 4 and 2.

Have a great trip!:goodvibes
