Do you attach any Identification to very young children?

The website One Step Ahead has the safety tatoos on sale this week for $6. They are the kind you write your cell number on and then apply. I plan to get them for our December trip.

This is what I was thinking, too. A friend of ours has used them and highly recommends them. I also like the rubber bracelet idea, but my 2 year old could get that off in a heart beat. The tat, no chance!

With the tattoos and markers be careful about not hiding them "too well"...especially if your child is too little to point it out to them. Disney CM's won't remove clothing or look under shirts or pants to try and locate a number.

We are going the dog tag route for our two older kids and the shoe tag for our youngest DS.

I took an extra luggage tag and added our personal information to it. I tied it to DS's belt loop.

We got some strange looks but I didn't care. At least I knew that if something were to happen, people would be able to contact us.

We used Who's Shoes velcro tags, but I was stuck with what to do when the girls owre their crocs! I put the id tag around the croc strap, but that wasn't very good.

Next time I'll probably order some Safety Tats or a rubber ID bracelet.

Yeah---This is what we have always done---easy and simple. I just wrote "My name is "XXXX". If I am lost, please call my parents at this number XXX-XXX-XXXX. I would then slip the little card in BACKWARDS so it wasn't visible and write "contact information" on the other side. I would slip them through their back belt loop or back of their overall straps so they wouldn't be bothered by them.

We never lost either child, but it was a good safety precaution. Also, we took a picture of them each morning so that we would be able to easily recall what they were wearing in case of an emergency.

We've done the pet tags from Petsmart or wherever on the shoes before, tattoos as well... what works best I think is the sharpie... We have done it inside the wrist or on the belly :)

I've seen the Sharpie thing many times. I watched a mom on the bus to MK pull up the shirts of her kids & write their name & her cell number on their bodies. Another person on the bus asked what that was for & she said it's permanent ink - if the kids are abducted it will be very hard for their info to be erased quickly. So looking at the Sharpie angle that way - for someone taking your child versus "I'm lost here's my info" - I totally agree!

Hi -
we have girls, so write our phone no with sharpie pens on the inside of their alice bands. And, if they are wearing shoes, we write inside those too. They both know where the numbers are and that they only show them to a CM or a lady behind the till counter at a shop.

That's what my mom did with my nieces and nephews when we went to DL -- she used the luggage tags I got from booking through AAA. They were at least Disney themed :)

We'll probably do something like that this time when we take our DD. I can't imagine she'll get away from us as she'll only be 1 1/2, but it doesn't hurt to make sure she's appropriately marked as 'claimed'.

What is an Alice band?

We got silicone bracelets from reminderband.com. One said "Dad" and his cell phone number and the other said "Mom" and mine (so we could switch out if someone forgot to charge their phone). I'm not sure if you would have time to get them before a trip next week, but I remember they came very fast after they were ordered.

I got mine from here too. VERY affordable (I got a basic red bracelet with black embossed writing - Mickey colors! - with just "If Lost xxx-xxx-xxxx" on it, DH's cell number) It was, with shipping, only about $6. DIRT cheap!

I told my DD4 that when we get to WDW, Daddy and I will show her how to know if someone works for Disney and if she ever can't find us, to go to one of them and show the bracelet, they'll help find us. The first day or two we're there, I'll quiz her (at a restaurant, at the hotel, see if she can find a CM, etc)

The only thing I disagree with it how fast it took - I got mine 3 weeks after ordering it and I didn't think it was fast at all. I did standard shipping to keep the cost down (and ordered it 9 weeks before we were leaving to allow plenty of time) and while I consider that normal, I don't think it could be considered "quickly".

I used our Disney luggage tags and wrote my info on it as well as that my dd has autism and some of her behaviors and such. I looped it on to one of her belt loops or shoes. She would take off dog tags and a bracelet, but if the luggage tag is out of site, she won't mess with it. We got ours free with the WDT company. But I have found some not costly luggage tags from disney smiles store or something of that online.

Also if you sew, you can make a patch and use a sharpie, or fabric markers, and sew the patch to the bottom of a shirt or on the back at the neck.

Has anyone tried one of those child locator alarm things? Are they any good?

We have the Shoe ID tags from our last trip, and my two (5 and 6) have been doing drills weekly since we planned the trip...

"what do you do if you can't see mommy or daddy"

they roll their eyes each time, but they have it down pat now.

we also take a pic of each before we leave the rooms.

Some great ideas in this thread!
