Do we really need this?

I've never seen this mentioned before on all the threads, but my travel agent mentioned that along with our certified birth certificates, we will need our marriage certificate showing that we were married since my wife's birth certificate will have her maiden name on it and not her married name.
In my documents it doesn't mention having to have this. Is this required on other lines but Disney?

Do you have passports? I have a passport and have never needed my marriage cert. since the updated name is in the back of the passport. Just an idea.

I've been on 5 Disney cruises. 3 without passports. They have never asked for my marriage certificate (and I had it each time just in case they did). As long as the birthdate matches you'll be fine.

We just cruised and no, I did not need a marriage certificate. They check the date of birth on the birth certificate and the DOB on the drivers licence. I had no problem (and I did not use a passport).

We've never needed it before and it just seems like such a stupid thing. We've done cruises probably 15-20 before and after 9-11 and before we had passports and never once had to show a marriage certificate. I would imagine that Disney would make sure to put it on the orange card they include with docs if it truly were needed. If you have a copy of it and it's handy and easy to get to then I'd say bring it just in case...if not I don't know if I'd ever go to the hassle of getting a copy of one. Another option is to just get a passport if you have time...that solves ALL the issues in one swoop.

Wow!! 4 replies within 5 minutes. I guess we all have nothing else we want to do but chat about the cruise.

Thanks to all that replied. I won't sweat it if we can't find the certificate.

drnlhome: I'm only 2.5 hours away and will be probably coming down in the next week or so to buy my hopper tickets at the MOA. That, and get my Krispy Kremes!

There is a BRAND NEW Krispie Kreme in MOA now! It smells wonderful! Enjoy!

All I want to do is chat cruise (of course I think that has something to do with my countdown clock) LOL

MMMM Krispy Kreme..YUMMY! They have one way too close to my house...makes dieting to get in that swimsuit MUCH harder!

I think this thread just turned into the Krispy Kreme thread. I just realized that I have a dozen being delivered to me tomorrow. A co-worker was selling them as a fund raiser. So what if their not hot off the line!

Is the new location at MOA a second location, or did the original one move?

MMMMMM Krispy Kreme Doughnuts MMMMMMM

If you don't have a passport, it is good to have. Safer than to be at the ship and not be allowed to board because of not having the "proper" documents. It is really the only legal document to show the name change and connection. They are cheap to get certified originals from your town clerk (or the town in which you were residing at the time of marriage).

We recently went to the Bahamas on vacation and I was asked for our marriage certificate. I didn't have it and my T>A> hadn't said anything about it . After I explained that to the customs person they allowed me anyway. I told my husband I would bring it for the cruise just in case.
