Do we need PS's for late September?

On past trips, we've always used the PS system for restaurants, but on this trip we are only doing a long weekend, Sept 25 thru Sept 28. Since the kids are all back in school, I don't expect to see large crowds. Do you think we really need to make PS's for dinner this time around? We plan to hit Whispering Canyon and Rose and Crown for 2 of our dinners (but don't care about Illuminations seating). We haven't decided on where to eat our other meals but Brown Derby is also high on the list. Should we make PS's or just wing it?

I will be there the same week and do make a few PS
for our fav. places. You may have to scratch the
Brown Derby because I read that it will be going
through renovations from Sept 1-30. I am almost
sure that it will be closed, but you may need to
call to make sure.

I have 4 PS's, which is 3 more then usual. I will be there Sept. 20-28. The only PS I have made are for things that may have been hard to come by-CM for our first evening and also CRT and PSB.
I also made a PS for the 1900 PF dinner for Friday, but only because that's my birthday and I wanted to make sure we had somewhere to go for sure.
I would like to go to Chefs De France, Sci Fi and WCC during the trip, but am willing to "risk" it. I can't be too scheduled, if we're able to eat there, fine, if not we'll do something else. I don't believe September will be crowded even with the FTP people there. :D

We are also there that week and only made PSs for the character meals where there will be 8 of us and for our anniversary at V&A. Otherwise we plan on winging it. Will definitely eat at WCC but I jusually just make a PS on that morning. Good Luck!

Walked up to the Rose and Crown the last sunday in sept. last year at 7:30 with no PS and got a table outside with about a 5 min. wait.

I was going to wing it too, as when I was last there in Sept it was so uncrowded, but with the FTP I decided to play it safe and make a few PS...I called today to avoid the August 4th rush and got the exact times I wanted for the Epcot restaurants on the days I wanted, but the Character Meals were harder to get the time..so I changed my time a bit. I suggest maybe call for the character meals if you really want to do a certian one a certain day...
