Do we need ID for our small kids?

To board our flight with Delta? We have two small kids. One is under two but he has his own seat, so I assume we don't need to show his birth certificate because he is not flying as a lap child. Do I need to bring anything in the way of ID for the kids?

Thanks

Shel

Passenger under 18 years of age do not have to have ID for domestic U.S. travel.

hi,
we in the past have always had a copy of ds (5) birth cert. i have never been asked to see it and when i always voulnter to show it, I was always told "no,thank you,we don't need to see it"

When I flew with my daughters (ages 7 and 11) the TSA agent asked each one of them what their name was then checked it against our boarding passes.

Our 13 yr. old niece (who looks over 18) carries her student id with her. She shows it to them when they don't believe she's under 18. If they have something like this they might get a kick out of showing it, otherwise like previously posted, under 18 doesn't need id for domestic travel.

If you got a special infant fare for your son you might need proof of age.

It may have been my imagination, but, check-in and security seemed much smoother when I showed the agents the picture "lost child" card that I had made at my son's school. Both the ticket agent and security just matched his name to his boarding pass, and we were on our way. My son somehow thinks it cute not to speak up when somebody asks him something like "What's your name?".

Do they really ask the kids their names? At what age do they start? My daughter is speech delayed and can't say her name--will this be an issue?

They have asked my son since he was about 3, and he is always so intimidated that he hides behind me. I can understand why, since I use my birth name and he has my husbands surname, plus, he is Asian, and I am Caucasion. Still, he is nearly 8 years old, and otherwise very articulate.
