Do we have any hope?

OK, here it is. We're going to WDW April 25-May2nd (yes, the busy week after Easter weekend). We originally booked offsite but have since bought SSR resale - ROFR has passed but still waiting to close.

So...we are dying to switch to DVC stay but do we really have any hope of being able to book a 2 bedroom for this week at such a late stage?

With likely less than 2 months, this seems like a long shot but we're thinking that many folks would not want to use their points given the premium point requirements for this period.

Do we have hope for 2 bedroom? If so, which resorts are most likely? Would we have better shot at premium rooms or standard/value? Do I ask too many Q's?

Any unreserved DVC villas are turned over to DRC for cash reservations 60 days in advance, so dates from April 23 and sooner are already available for cash reservations. Depending on when your points are available (it usually take a week after closing) you may be able to reserve based on availability. Most of that may have already been reserved via DVC reservations, but you may find something available.

It was more economical to stay that first week of May pointwise so we booked it. May 1 starts the dream season this year and is F&G I believe so I expect it to be busy. We are there 4/30-5/2. Sorry I cannot give you any advice on resort choices. You will just have to se what you can get. If you cannot get what you want. I would bank those points to next year--keep my current reservation and have a villa next trip since you are so close. Are you able to bank?

You just never know till you call. We were able to snag a reservation at SSR the week after Easter a couple years ago about 5 weeks out. But it did take a number of calls and a lot of prayers. We pieced the reservation together day by day for 7 nights. We did have to move from a 1-bedroom to a studio half way through the stay. So yes, it can be done. But you may have to be flexible and you make have to take some chances and make a number of calls to get what you want. We had a back up reservation off-site. It would have stunk to have to move more than once. But you may have to take that chance to piece something together.

SSR or OKW would most likely be the places to have availability. You'll never know until you call and find out.

That's great!! I saw on the ROFR thread that you passed on 2/18, and you got your closing documents today! That's fast!
Still waiting for our closing docs to arrive.

A couple years ago we booked the week before Easter somewhere between 30-60 days out. We had to split our stay but we were able to get a room AKL CL. Not that we wanted it, but it was the only 1 bdrm available for one of our nights so we stayed 3/4 because we didn't want to switch so much. The other room was at SSR.

So you never know until you try. We've had good luck if you don't care where you are.

Another Update - Just got word from Timeshare Store (who have been great to work with BTW). They said the seller is selling multiple sets of points with various buyers and they want to notarize all deeds together so it will likely take full closing period. We had couriered all docs today to help speed things along. Oh well, looks like it may be tough but we will still give it try.

I am leaving WDW Easter Sunday. As of a month ago they still had availability at AKL...kidani for a 1BR....so you never know.

I was even able to change my BLT studio to a 1br for 4/23.....again this was a month ago...
Ya never know.
