me and my family have been to all the disney parks 8 times and we have found that Magic Kingdom doesnt really change. so we were going to miss that one out next year but we have now found out that we are taking a family friend (a 15 year old boy) he's never been so do you think we should take him to magic kingdom? and has anything changed in magic kingdom since last year??? :wave2:

The pirates of the Caribbean will have re-opened from the re-hab. I think everyone going to Disney should go to MK even if it is only to do major attractions, spend half a day there and hit space, splash, and thunder mountains, the haunted mansion, pirates, and anything else that they would be interested in. It wouldn't be the end of the world if you didn't go to MK but I do think it would be fun for everyone.

Uh . . . Yeah . . . How could you miss MK if this person has never been there? :confused3

I agree w/ kmebee!!! (Then again, my thought is, um.....yeah, how do you miss MK in general??? Can you tell it is my favorite park?) Although it doesn't change much, there's just something magical at the MK that you can't get at any other park! I've been 20+ times and can't imagine a trip to WDW w/o it!

Well, since you have been and he hasn't I would say go. I have been many times and DH and I went for 3 days to WDW in December w/o my son. We still did MK and hit a lot of the rides and were out of there by 2pm, and since he's 15, you probably can skip most of Fantasyland and Mickey's Toontown Fair. Then you aren't all day there but he gets to experience MK!

i agree with some, i'd go mainly for the mountains, pirates, philharmagic, buzz since he's never been, I'd go for at least part of a day

you probably could safely skip pooh play area and ariel's grotto ( hehe although at 15 he might be interested in ariel)

sometimes teens surprise you and like things you never thought they would ;)

Are you sure of that!? :rotfl: It would be in my family!

MK is still the highlight of our trips, and I have a 15 and 11 yr old. He should try Space MT, Splash MT, Haunted Mansion, BTM, and Pirates at the minimum! I would even drag him into Philharmagic. :)

You have not been to Disney unless you go to MK, IMHO! :teeth: The sights and sounds are part of the magic. :wizard:

A TRIP TO WDW AND NOT SEE MK? :sad2: UNTHINKABLE!!!!! Have taken many trips with and without kids and cannot imagine not seeing MK. It is the most exciting feeling to walk down Main Street and see the Castle. Let's us know that we really are in WDW. The "Mountians", the Pirates, PhilherMagic, and of course, Wishes. Makes the trip!!!! :wizard:

Wow, not going to the MK is a form of Disney blasphemy! ;)

I've been there over 20 times (not including the times I stopped by when I worked in the parks) and still could not picture a trip to WDW without it. And if someone has never been, they will most likely want to go...you see images of MK everywhere...to be so close and not go...i dunno, it's just torture! hehe

:rotfl2: ITA. I can't imagine going to WDW and not going to MK. Even if you don't go on the rides, it's a geat place to walk around. I could never get bored of the Magic Kingdom, even if it never changes!

Oh my, I can't read anymore - I am too busy crying :guilty: sniffle, sniffle ... not go to MK ....

Anyway ... since you have someone who has never been there, I think you should plan to go to MK this time and then ... GULP ... skip it the next time.

A 15 year old boy might like epcot better, but ask him what he likes to do. My 12 year old son could easily miss mk. Personally I think you have to bring him. Everyone has to experience mk. And it's fun to bring newbies to see it through their eyes.

I can't imagine NOT going to MK. My my. Even just walking around the VMK MK I get chills, lol. In my book it's a MUST, whereas my DH said as I was planning the trip, we don't have to go to the Kingdom. I immediately shot him a look of disbelief!

MK is the whole reason we go to WDW, but obviously YMMV. ;) Even if we weren't all geeked up about going to MK, if we were traveling with someone who had not been to MK before I would definitely make that a part of our trip.

Boy, I wonder if I could ever go to WDW often enough to get bored with the Magic Kingdom. Maybe if I lived in Orlando... nah, not even then probably!

By goodness, that poor kid is going all the way to WDW for the first time, and you're even thinking of not taking him to the MK??? Sure, a teenaged boy isn't going to care much for Main Street, Toontown fair, or Fantasyland, but Disney's mountain range, Pirates, Haunted Mansion... and just the overall ambience and feel of the place... it's just something you can't get anywhere else on Earth. Take him.
