Do we deserve to be treated differently?

Nope, sorry, everyone pays their admission, therefore everyone gets the same treatment - be that first timers, international visitors, repeat visitors, those who live 2 miles away, kids, adults, the elderly, the disabled etc.

I like the idea of a "welcome back"folder or basket. Or just acknowledgement of being loyal. Hotels do it all the time.

I do not think the OP was asking for flat out special treatment, just a little "thanks for spending money with us sooo often" Everyone should be treated the same that is best way to make everyone special. But a pin or a coupon would make those feel happy and would not bother me since I have not done anything to get it.

You can even get coupons at the grocery store for using a reward card. I think Disney could do the same thing.

I'm sure Disney would consider it a nightmare specifically because of boards like this. As it is, anytime they try to do something for a guest or try to create a little bit of magic people have expectations of what they are owed. I've seen a zillion threads where people complain about how they didn't get a towel animal, or they didn't get anything special when they wore their birthday pin, or somehow a cast member just wasn't magical enough for them. With the millions and millions of guests that arrive each year, and a pretty large percentage of them are return guests (at least when I'm talking to people in line or waiting for parades it's very rare that I'm talking to someone who is on their first visit) someone is going to feel slighted or that they didn't get their due as a "frequent guest" They'd have to set up an entire new line at guest services for people complaining.
Does anyone remember that article that was out a few years ago about return guests at Disney? From what I remember it's the return guests that make up a bulk of the complaints to Disney, its the first time guests that are most thrilled because they have nothing to compare it to. Also the first time guests spend much more than return guests since it's their first trip, after all how many Mickey ears does a person need in their life time? Besides if you really feel you're owed something for being a returning guest just do what many of the other returning guests do - and bring back your refillable mug. :)

No one deserves to be treated better because they are fortunate to be able to afford to come to Disney more often than others.
I do think WDW should send frequent visitors a special code, or pin, as a thank you to their home.

This sorta reminds me of something I read online awhile back.
WDW was considering changing FP so that it would have more perks for onsite guests. Along with that it would be "perky-er" for guests who stayed in the fancier resorts as opposed to those staying at value resorts. This is certainly something I hope to never see happen.
sigh
It just seems everybody deserves the same treatment, that's the way Walt wanted it isn't it?

People realize this already happens, right?

Puting the Deluxe resort busses at the front of the bus area and making the rest walk farther as the resort "class" moves downward.

At DL "on-site" resort guests can do early entry every day vs. others only once per multi-day pass.

There are a lot more, but I do wonder if people realize that Disney already has implemented many "perks" based on how much they are getting from you.

What does any of this have to do with how often you visit? :confused3

That's to do with how much you pay to stay in a particular place, not how often you visit.

I think Cardaway was responding to my previous post. There is truth to that. I guess I never reall put that much thought into it.
Longer walk to the busses? Eh, doesn't faze me.
Getting in for EMH...now that's a perk I like! After staying offsite so many yrs, now that we stay onsite...this one I do like.

I guess my point was changing something (like FP) that is already in place just sorta rubbed me the wrong way.

Sorry I changed the topic, now back to your regularly scheduled thread

I think it would be neat to have some sort of T-shirt that shows your loyalty and all, just something.
As far as regulars bring the ones who complain the most, SURE THEY DO, they visit more frequently so there's more room for things to go wrong. I'm not saying be nit picky but hey, if I see something that is uncharacteristically Disney, I will speak up. For example; I once saw a CM being very rude to a Asian family in front of us that couldn't understand the CM. She was so ugly to them because they weren't loading the vehicle fast enough and they had a special needs child with them to boot.
I have never written to Disney for ANY reason until I saw that display of rudeness. I felt like that CM should be removed from dealing with the public or atleast be watched to make sure this behavior wasn't continuing.
Also, let's face it, how much business do we bring to the parks. Heck, I've planned I can't tell you how many trips for friends and family members and I always send out emails when I see deals so they can enjoy the magic.

While I would love to pay less for our frequent trips, Disney knows I'll be there regardless. They know I stay at deluxes. There's no reason to offer me more. Besides, my addiction led me here & to allearsnet & mousesavers, etc., so I know how to save $$$ & get the most "bang for my buck" on my Disney trips.

On the topic of getting something for taking a survey, you are getting something...a higher quality product each time you go!

How often a person visits, and where they stay when they do, a both basically the same thing from Disney's perspective. How much goes to the bottom line. Doing something like giving a repeat customer something is exactly what they already do on so many levels.

If a person feels it's bad to give soemthing special to repeat customers, do they feel the same about other perks people get because they give more of their money to Disney?

It's like with anything in life: you pay more, you get better service. I wouldn't demand McDonalds provide me with silver service for my $3 cheeseburger meal, because I've not paid for it. You pay more money to stay at Deluxe, you get the perks, like being on the monorail, but you're paying for them.

Of course, repeat visitors still get these perks if they choose to stay in these resorts, so they're not missing out on them.

That's exactly the reason you don't get pin codes - you're a loyal and frequent visitor.

At work, my best customers get my best discounts for one simple reason - it would hurt my business tremendously if they went away. They also would wonder why they weren't getting special treatment.

That being said...how does Disney know how many times you've visited? How could it be tracked?

It would be interesting if they would start a perks club like a cruiseline has - a couple of discounts on hotel rooms throughout the year in off-peak season (trust me, better business sense than having the rooms go unused), souvenir cups, t-shirts, a special welcome gift in your hotel room upon check-in? It would be a nice touch even though it isn't necessary.

Assuming you stay on-site and give them real names, quite easy. When planning our trip last year I actually had the person on the phone ask me if the people who stayed with us before (other family members, by name) would be staying with us again. Both kinda cool and kinda scary.

DVC was suppose to be somewhat like "perks for frequent guests" originally. But actually, WDW makes more profit from the infrequent guests than the frequent guests as a group.

Actually it's very easy and about 5 years ago there was a big project underway in IT and elsewhere in WDW to try to do just that. As I understand it it met with mixed success. It was when discussing that project with some IT folks at WDW that I learned about the infrequent guest being more profitable.

Galahad,
"WDW makes more profit from the infrequent guests than the frequent guests as a group."
Where did you get this data from?

Thanks,
Kelly

I think as guests we should all be treated the same. I do wish they did have some kind of frequent guest program. We dont want DVC right now and we go alot. This xmas will be our 3rd in a row and 7th trip since 2005. We usually stay deluxe and our trips for usually more than 7 days. We love disney but it would nice to have a loyalty program as a way of saying thanks for the all repeat business. I am not holding my breathe.
