Last I checked, no national or theme park has been set aside 'just for white people'. The fact that less minorities visit the parks you did is a shame, hopefully you will encourage more minorities to visit those parks rather than dwell on what made you personally uncomfortable.

FYI, Tom Joyner (the Radio Personality) hosts a huge Family Reunion at WDW over Labor Day weekend that celebrates family of all races. He is well known in the African-American community through the R&B radio stations. There is info on the Disney website about it.
I was about to mention this! My sister and I were planning to go but I lost my job.... Last years I heard was AWESOME! They have an entire WDW resort to themselves!!
I have noticed the lack but don't really care. The lack of diversity is also in just about every part of my life, including the mods on this board. Lack oif diversity has never bothered me, lack of sensitivity, knowledge and common sense does, though.
You'll will see all kinds of people at Disney. It's always a very diverse mix. Almost everyone we met last week was from a European country. It was great meeting people from so many different places.

I don't think it really boils down to race or what one can or cannot afford. I think it's more along the line of how people prefer to spend their dime on vacation.
For instance I know from several threads not long ago that they're are diser's relatives and friends don't understand what people see in Disney rather it be a Disney Cruise or anything Disney.
Another thing many prefer not to do regardless of race is surf. To me surfing with sharks is like having a death wish.
Again it all boils down to how and where you want to spend your money.
