When I went to WDW in Sept 2004 it was to get some fun before my mastectomy and chemo. It was the worst trip I ever had, i couldn't get the cancer out of my brain and really had no fun. the two people I was with (heartless) had tons of fun, they sometimes left me in the room to go to the parks alone because I just didn't feel like going. They woke early every morning to go down to Bfst at WL and left me sleeping so I usually had no bfst either. I was taking sleeping pills at the time and although I am usually a light sleeper I never woke up. I asked them every morning to wake me so I could go too but they never did. Worst part was I paid for the whole trip, air, resort, and tickets...They are both out of my life now though.
After chemo and radiation I went with my entire family. We rented 6 rooms at Pop and had a blast. We sat out on the balcony every night and got drunk and had a blast. My son's decorated their window with all the bottles and cans, and it was full.
So definately go after as a pick me up, not before.
I am going down to FL in a few weeks to visit a friend who had a mastectomy and now is having some more surgery related to the past surgery. She has to stay out of work for 3 weeks but her Dr said she could go anywhere she wanted to have some fun. I am bringing my wheelchair with me and plan on pushing her all around Epcot for the Flower and Garden festival. I am sure that will lift her spirits.
