The whole ".........." thing instead of telling you the main point so that you don't have to open it up to see what it is they are telling or asking about so you know if it interests you or not?

And I do it everytime to see if I can throw some words of wisdom out there and then it turns out to be about someone's love for feet or something.

Does it bother anyone else?

Yes!!!!!!!!!! It gets on my nerves.

I hate that. When the topic title is not clear how do I know if I am interested or if I am wasting my time. So then I say to myself, just forget it...then as I'm going to other threads, I start to get curious...what if the topic really is something of interest? So I scroll back up to find the thread again. So then by the time I have debated it I have already wasted precious seconds of my life. Then when I finally decide to go ahead and check it out, it is just as you say, some silly and/or trivial and/or just plain not interesting (to me) topic...I roll my eyes and sigh heavily, making mental note of said poster's name as I mutter horrible things about them under my breath.

Yes, in fact many sites have rules against those kind of thread titles and I have never seen anybody complain.

Yeah, but then there are the days the DIS moves very slowly no matter what type of connection you have.

It can be kind of annoying when the thread starts off like "Just got home from......" and you open it because you don't know if it's something serious like the Hospital or something fluffy like the Mall. I think some people start their threads like that to increase the view count, and possibly the number of replies.

A.) No, it doesn't bother me because I won't usually open them.
B.) Now that you mentioned it, people are going to do it more often, on purpose, just to get to the people it bugs.
