Do those NY prices seem high?

When I was on the phone, I had already booked my Canada and was getting prices for others, the CM said "Oh, I just got a message, the New York prices are wrong." Hmmm...

What?? Oh this roller coaster is killing me:lmao:

I hope they are wrong! What does that mean??:confused3

I sooo want to go out of NYC in july/august to canada. I really hope it isn't that bad. We are booked on fantasy for 4/14/12, and I don't want to cancel that to go on Magic, but would like to do both. Hopefully it's not that bad...

I'll be on site tomorrow am checking it out... if it's 1700 for 2a, 1c for 2 night.. it would prob cost my family the same as it is for the fantasy! UGH

I know. I'm sorry. But that is what he said. My Canada was already done and I had moved on to different cruises, so I didn't ask, because, well, I didn't want to know if it was higher :rotfl:. My 11B on 6/17 breaks down to $858.50 each, so maybe it is right...I thought it would be a bit cheaper than that with a rebooking 10% discount though.

Which sailings are these? 2-night? 5-night?

Is everyone really THAT surprised at the prices?

I mean this still is Disney just because they are sailing out of NYC doesn't mean its going to be cheaper.

The Cruises out of New York are not cheap. Unless you are sailing on a down time like in Sept or Oct.

Disney also includes much more than any of the other cruise lines and their cabins are considerably larger than most other cruise lines too.

Also unless this is a rumor, they are including a One Day Hopper Pass and Round Trip Transportation to Disney World. That is a huge savings. If you book that with other cruise lines that could cost you about $150 a person if not more and its not a Hopper Pass either.

I am still excited, when looking at the 2 night cruise to nowhere, again its a little bit higher but on Norwegian's 1 night cruise to nowhere in an OV Cabin its $229 per person withough any drinks included. So Disney is a bit more AND its an extra day.

Bring it on I can't wait to be able to start booking tomorrow. I am just not thrilled with people holding "ghost reservations"

DCL is easily double the price of other cruise lines, even when leaving from PC. With that said I am still looking into the 8 day out of NYC, and I will use my Disney Reward Dollars to take some of the sting out :) . In my opinion cruises to nowhere are never a good deal.

Honestly, how often is DCL twice as much as other cruiselines? I'm sure it happens, but I think it's repeated so often that some people think it's always true. That's far from the truth. Yes, I've seen it cost 15% to 50% more at times for similar itineraries, but I've also seen it priced up to 20% less than other cruise lines (namely the Oasis and Allure). Again, not always, but sometimes.

Our 2012 Fantasy cruise out of PC is priced less than nearly the exact same itinerary leaving on the exact same day as either Royal Caribbean's Oasis or Carnival's Dream ships. (About $1,200 less than the Oasis and about $175 less than the Dream). Plus, those two big ships are visiting the EC ports on the same day, whereas, Disney will be in the same ports by themselves on opposite days! And Disney visits CC instead of Nassau like the other two big ships.

It's NY. Everything is more expensive in NY!

I'm also surprised at the prices, though we did get a heads up on them in the early news release. And we are talking about peak summer pricing, which is generally higher than normal pricing.

Disney has always been higher priced that most other cruise lines. Since it came out, I have been in the travel business for over 17 years and Disney was always at a higher price point BUT you get what you pay for. NCL has always been less expensive BUT they nickle and dime you to death onboard their ships.

When all new ships come out no matter the cruise line its usually expensive. The new Royal Caribbean Ships are in a totally different class now, I actually would not want to sail on them because their itinieraries are bad, that is why they had to lower the prices for the month of April, people are not willing to pay those prices and get back service and a lack of itinerary. The ships are too big. Disney will still sell out these ships, mark my words. I know many of my customers will pay for quality and not having to fly with a family of 4 or 5 they are already making a huge savings right there and no hassle.

You better not!! LOL Just kidding!! I just posted on our thread this morning about the NY prices ... a little too rich for just 2 nights.

I could take 2 vacations elsewhere for the price of one of these itins.

This is the reason I have never taken a Disney cruise. I really want to but my $$ goes so much farther on other cruise lines and other vacations. I'm hoping one day I can justify the cost of a Disney cruise because I would really like to try it.

To me Disney is worth every penny. I've sailed with Carnival & hated it. I'm going to try NCL this fall but we'll see. I think the only time I've had a great cruise is with Disney. The service is excellent & it has that Disney magic touch.

Like I said in my earlier post if I can pay $2700 on the Dream for a 4 nighter then an 8 nighter for $4000-5000 is fine with me...

The eastern and western ports for Oasis and Allure of the Seas are no worse than DCL's. The ships are the destination, just as the Dream and Fantasy are the destination.

haha, I have to disagree with this. I've gotten concert tickets for 15 bucks to shows in NYC, now they aren't cruises, but they aren't expensive. As for basketball games and Yankee games, well those are pretty expensive:lmao:

Now all cruises I've looked at on all lines out of NYC have been pretty expensive so I just stuck with DCL

I should have said I don't want to cancel my 4/14 on fantasy and won't :) Don't worry, we'll be there!!

My kids actually don't even know about it, it's funny because my oldest is asking when my younger 2 get to go on a cruise (he's been on 3, they've been on 0) I keep telling him they both have, I was preg w/middle son on 10 night southern on Wonder and preg w/youngest on alaska cruise :rotfl:

We plan on it being their "big"christmas present.

We got a 7A (which is actually a full verandah with a slight obstruction, but categorized as a navigator's verandah) for $1,880 for 3 adults (no insurance or transfers). It was a little higher than expected (I was hoping maybe $500/pp), but not enough to make us not go. THIS IS FOR THE 2-NIGHT SAILING.

We are trying to accomplish three things with this cruise: finally do a sailing out of NYC (on Disney is a plus), celebrate our anniversary, and become platinum. This cruise accomplishes all that, making us platinum for our Fantasy Thanksgiving cruise giving us lots of new amentities including our free dinners at Palo.

The length and timing is perfect because it will not cost us any vacation days. Considering we do a weekend in NYC every year with restaurants and at least three plays, we can justify it as our weekend getaway to NYC for 2012 ;)
