Do They Still Sign Pillowcases?

saying that they were only supposed to accept "soft" things (like pillowcases) that the characters wouldn't be able to hold and sign during appearances.

I thought that the whole reason of giving these items to GS was because these would be signed not during appearances. I can understand that it would be difficult for a character to sign a pillow case while holding it but if you drop the items off at GS I kinda picture it being signed by someone not wearing a costume at the time.

It seems those people having trouble were on the Magic. Has anyone on the Wonder and had trouble giving things to GS to be signed?

I took several pictures of Mickey and Minnie at the sail-away party and the Golden Mickeys, had 5x7s printed at Shutters, then dropped them off at guest services for autographs. I was well pleased with the result and have character autographed pictures from my actual cruise.

I'll take some 8x10s of prior cruises with me the next time for signatures. (Having 8x10s printed on board was too expensive in my opinion.)

For the question on helpful CMs - I just rummaged through some papers and actually found the half slip of paper that they had included with my pillowcases in the ziploc bag when they returned it to me. It was a form labeled "Character Autograph Requests" which includes places for the date of the request, the CMs name, our name, room number, name of item, which requested signatures (he filled in "All") and where to sign on the item. Our CM was Ibrahim on the Eastern Magic sailing and he was very nice about it. I hope this helps. But one note - I did include the color sharpies but all of the signatures were in black.

We were on the 1/13 Wonder and had taken 2 plain white pillowcases to be signed. I put them both in a ziploc bag together with some different colored Sharpie markers that I had bought at Wal-Mart. I took them to Guest Services the same evening that we boarded the ship and told the lady that I wanted to drop them off to have them signed by the characters. She was very nice about it and told me to come back on the last evening of the cruise to pick them up. And that's what we did...we actually went back before dinner and they weren't ready yet...the person there told us to come back after 9, that was when they would sign them, so we went back after our dinner and they were indeed ready. And they were all signed in different colors which was nice. The only thing I was a little sad about was that the Princesses had not signed them, but that was okay, there were nice enough to give me all the others, so I wasn't going to complain! They did turn out very nice!!! :D

Last September I bought a DCL beach towel on board and had that signed by the characters with the colored fabric markers that I had brought with me.

I am planning to bring some t-shirts for the kids to have signed by the "characters". I know that my kids will want to wear the shirts afterward. What should I put in the ziploc bag? Sharpies or some sort of fabric pen? Which will hold up better with washing? Thanks. I hope I don't meet the cranky guy behind the counter at Guest services. I wonder if it the same person giving everyone a hard time? :Pinkbounc

We dropped off a Buzz Lightyear pillowcase for DS, and a plain white sun visor for my niece. I had included several basic-colored Sharpies as well. In the ziploc bag with my DN's visor, I put a slip of paper saying "princesses only, please."

When I picked my stuff up, my DS's pillowcase was signed with the colored Sharpies by lots of characters (not just the "Top 5"). It was great!

But the real surprise was my DN's visor, which was signed by Princesses Jasmine, Ariel, Cinderella, Aurora, Pocohontas, Mulan and Snow White, Tinkerbell and Wendy Darling. They didn't use those red and blue markers either...they used beautiful fabric paint in "princessy" colors! The paint even had glitter in it!

Needless to say, both DS and DN were thrilled...DN wore her visor every day for WEEKS.

BTW...I love the mat idea!

we went in feb on the wonder and i took 4 shirts and a mat to be signed...i took it to guest services our first day with each shirt in a different zip lock with the room number and the sharpies...the last night we picked them up at guest services...they were all signed including the mat.....i made the shirts with the transfer paper and put a picture of mickey and minnie with the words cruisin for nathan's 13th birthday...(our son's surprise) and then had the dates on the bottom...they turned out wonderful and the cm was very pleasant at guest services...
