a moment of remembrance for our palm plant purchased in the now defunct shop in the land pavilion between food rocks and the exit to the land boat ride........we have had it for years and it grew nicely, but developed some sort of infestation over the past few months and is no more.

any idea if WDW still sells these mini palm trees or mini orange trees as souvies? and if so, where? (i was thinking DTD might have them somewhere, but i am at a loss.)

To my knoweldge they no longer sell them anywhere at WDW.

If you stop at the counter near Soarin and where the Greenhouse tour starts I think they have them. I do remember seeing them when the ride opened.

I asked this question last fall and I can tell you that if you are thinking about the ones that are already started quite aways (maybe like 8-10" talll) they do not carry them anymore. They carry some very small ones at the land pavillion on the soarin counter(at least in fall 05 they did).

Good news is I found them in a gift shop at MCO on the B side across from Sea World gift shop. They had lemon trees, orange trees, and mini palm trees.

They use to sell them over in DTD in the outdoor shop where the $10 shop is located. If you are flying into Orlando. The gift shops at airport have them too.

thanks - i will try there by soarin and at DTD and if no luck, swing by the shop at MCO on the way back. loved that palm and have always kicked myself for not picking up a mini orange tree too.

Ooh..that's good to know. My MIL and I were looking for one or two to take home last time we were at WDW. Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2

We have a mini palm, which was purchased at Epcot back in 1993, on our honeymoon. It is now huge thing, and takes up most of a corner in our living room. My wife is a plant fanatic, however, I could care less about plants, except for our Disney palm! I must say that it is the best WDW souvenir we have ever purchased.

And yes, I was tempted to add a sappy analogy about the palm and our marriage, but I did manage to hold back.

I think it has been a few years since they have had them at DTD. They do have a cart that sells tropical ginger and something else for you to take home if you are interested.

How do you get these mini trees home on the airplane? Do the orange tree and lemon trees actually produce fruit indoors? This sounds like a GREAT thing to take home with me.

They are in packaging that is probably about 12 inches tall and about 3 inches wide. I just have a palm here at home we used to have an orange tree, but it died.

What is MCO?

Thanks,

On one trip, we picked up some acorns that had fallen from the Liberty Tree, brought them home and planted them. They did quite well for a couple of years on our kitchen window sill, but then my wife said it was time for them to get transplanted outdoors, where they got killed by a New England winter.

I saw them for sale less than a year ago in the Land Pavillion- where you sign up for the Behind the Seeds tour.
