Do they still do the Fantasmic Dessert Buffet at DL?

I was poking around the Forum...and found out about the Fantasmic Dessert Buffet.

Do they still offer this?

If so...could someone give me some details about this?

Are we able to see the Fantasmic show from where we sit?

As far as I know they are still doing it. They did it when I was there in December.

I have never been willing to dish out the money for it so I can't give you any details but someone should be able to help you.

I have never done this but am aware of what it is. It costs about $60 per person. You can get riverside seats (next to the Rivers of America, but off-center to the left) or balcony seats (above the POTC ride). You can see the Fantasmic show from both spots - that is what it is for. Desserts are served, and by most accounts they are nothing special. The number of seats is very limited, and if you are going during busier times you can only get them if you call 30 or 31 days in advance (depends on the month), first thing in the morning when they open.

Not sure when you are going, but Fantasmic will be down for awhile in early 2007 because of work on Tom Sawyer Island. I believe it goes down in February and will be down for a number of weeks.

We did balcony seating during our Nov trip and all I can say is Balcony is the only way to go! We were a party of 8 and with the wonderful help of vacation planning (our trip was booked through them) we got front row in the balcony. The desserts were out of this world. It was so nice to be able to know that we had seats reserved, that we could sit and enjoy the show. The staff on the balcony were great. We felt this was totally worth the cost. My husband and I paid for our entire party of 8 and at the end I said Merry CHristmas! They agreed it was the best Christmas present ever!

We just did this again on our Christmas trip. We had front row balcony seats and it was awesome. Perfect vantage point up and away from the crowds and we stayed to watch the fireworks from there, too. Our whole family thought the food was much better this time than in the past as well.

Its very expensive, and not something to do with little kids! My 1yo screamed the whole time, but my 4yo was so amazed the he dropped his fork off the balcony. We will do rivrside seating when we go in December.

We had balcony, front row last August and would not do it any other way.
Very good food and comfortable viewing.

Try this link for more information. Its a great splurge in both price and experience. The desserts are very good and they have fruit, cheese and crackers as well. So go hungry! The other alternative is to go to someplace like Pooh Corner near Splash Mountain, load up on goodies and just sit on the ground holding your good spot and pigging out on sugar. For about one tenth the cost!

I did balcony seating with my daughter this past December and I enjoyed it very much, the whole thing made my 20 yr old daughter cry..me too. We just felt so fortunate and pampered. Having said that, I probably won't do it again because while it was a beautiful experience it was a slurge. Something nice to do for a special occasion, but not regularly.

We did this in December with our 2 boys. Riverside, loved it. Yes, it was $$$$ but it was our first time to DL we more than likly won't do it again.

I agree with everyone here that the Balcony seating is the way to do Fantasmic. I have heard that Fantasmic is actually going dark beginning January 15th, not February and will stay dark through most May.

They allow 20 people on the balcony. I'm on the short side, so it was a concern of mine too. The rows of people only went 2 deep and the chairs are staggered. If you were to sit behind someone you could stand but I really don't think there's a bad view from above.

We have done this twice, once in the front row and once in the second. In the second row, as someone said the chairs are staggered. My kids also sort of sat on their knees on their chairs to see and they saw just fine. Its not a problem since nobody's behind you. You could even stand I guess if you wanted but I don't think it would be necessary. I would not hesitate to go again sitting in that second row. That photo of the desserts taken in July 05 looks exactly like what we had when we went.

It is totally worth it, because otherwise you are wasting time sitting on the ground hours before the show instead of riding the rides. It's worth it for the seating, but I wouldn't say the desserts are. They are ok, but nothing special. We were given 2 chocolate covered strawberries, 2 macaroons, 2 chocolate covered shortbread cookies and something else which I can't remember right now. Beverages are included as well. When we originally booked the buffet we thought it would have more elaborate desserts, like cakes, pies, cheesecake, etc. However, if I had to do it all over again, I would still pay the money for the seating.

Desserts in the balcony seating are much more elaborate. Why the prices are the same I don't know. I remember one reviewer said the hot chocolate at Riverside was watery, while on the Balcony we had "drinking chocolate" which is a thick concoction like liquid pudding. (Delicious)

I thought it was a desset buffet? They bring it to your table a pre quanity set up?
