Do they still do the Fantasmic Dessert Buffet at DL?

Yes I couldn't agree more. Next time I go, I would try to get balcony seating again, but would still pay the same amount for Riverside seating because my time there is worth it to me as well since I don't go there that often. Let's not forget Disney is a magical place. You're not experiencing any magic, sitting on the ground for several hours waiting for the show.

Hi all,
We did Riverside seating in October 2006, and clearly Disneyland is responding to customer demand regarding the difference in desserts...they've done away with the boxes! Our riverside group had a buffet table set up with cookies, brownies, rice krispie treats, etc. I assume this is still true, though it does seem that Disney changes up what happens Riverside fairly often, cosnidering the range of reports on this and other message boards.

The difference, from what I hear, is that Riverside folks get no silverware, and the treats are things you can eat with your hands. (No cakes.) The cast members are wonderful, and bring you drinks and a smile. We had no complaints at all about the Riverside experience, especially considering that we were paying for the luxury of seating, with the desserts being a nice extra.

We'll be doing the Balcony seating on Jan. 26, and I can confirm the differences then. It's always worth it to set yourself down and have some sugar while watching princes and princesses float by on boats, don't you think?

Well I did Riverside seating on December 29th, 2006 and we got boxes, so they must have gone back to it. Next time I'm going to try to do Balcony seating, but would still take Riverside if Balcony is not available.

I thought the boxes were kind of cute because you could take them with you when you left and enjoy left over cookies later in the evening. There was no way I could eat all the cookies and chocolate covered strawberries in the time I spent sitting there watching Fantasmic. Riverside is nice in that you are right near the action "up, close & personal". The downside was that it was a chilly night and the spray from the water was cold! Also, the lens of my camera kept getting water droplets on it.

Either way, I would do the reserved seating again. It was also nice to be able to remain there to watch the fireworks. It made for a very relaxing evening.

Yes the boxes were nice so that you could take away the desserts with you. They did give you more than 1 person could eat in one sitting. The seating was nice and close to the action as was being able to have a seat for the fireworks. I guess one other advantage of the Balcony seating would be that you wouldn't get wet from the water.

Is the dessert buffet refundable?

If we do the Repo cruise in August 2008, I want to spend a few days touring DL.

I'd love to do the dessert buffet on our last night(Friday). However, I wouldn't want to put all my eggs in one basket so I'm going to try to secure seats for Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

If I'm able to get tickets for say both Tuesday and Friday, will I be able to cancel the Tuesday tickets?

No I don't believe so. You have to understand, people are calling and reserving these seats 30 days in advance. I seriously doubt they would refund the tickets. Only way to find out for sure though is to call them and ask.

No, they are nonrefundable. It is very difficult to get seats at the earlier show for balcony seating, so be sure of what you want before you make the call.

We stayed riverside the first time (three years ago, when they still had a buffet of desserts instead of pre-boxed. I heard they recently went back to the actual buffet for riverside, though), first row.

The last time, we did the balcony and were second row.

We greatly preferred the riverfront seating. We were as close as you could possible get. It was especially great for the kids. You are really front row, and can feel the fire, etc.

The desserts were better on the balcony (more cakes, etc. as opposed to the more portable desserts like Mickey rice crispie treats, chocolate covered strawberries, etc.), but we were in the second row and my dh had to hold my youngest so he could see.

If it were just dh and I, and we were gautanteed the first row, we would do the balcony again. It's just more relaxed.

In both cases, I just really loved walking up five min. before showtime.

I am in same boat as you, I am going to Eastern repo and would like to do DL for 2 nights prior. Fantasmic Dessert buffet is definately on the to do list. We will prob see each other there!!

Normally the time difference is 8 hours to Pacific Time, but I am not sure how the UK changes with respect to "daylight savings time". You are correct that it is not clear which day to call for August 10. It will be either July 10 or 11.

What I would do is call Disney sometime (shortly) before July 10 and make sure what the time difference is and confirm what day to call to get the reservation on Aug 10. Then if you are really paranoid like me, call one day in advance at the recommended time to see if you can get the reservation and if they tell you to call back the next day, then you know you are in good shape. The one thing to make sure you understand is that timing is critical - especially in busy season like August. Have your speed dial set up ahead of time and try to get your call placed exactly when the reservation office opens.
