Do they open more rooms?

I have POR booked for Mar.30-Apr.6, but we had really hoped to get WL or CR. Currently, both are sold out. I know this is a "slow" period, so I doubt both hotels are truley sold out, but actually sold out for the allotment of room that week. Does anyone know if Disney ever opens up more rooms at certain resorts during these slow periods, or am I stuck with POR? Thanks.

Not sure how slow it will be since it is during spring break(really spring break goes from mid March to mid April). However Disney isn't about to let money slip through its fingers, so if they are holding rooms back that can be used they will open them up.

Those dates are during spring break season, so unfortunately the resorts are most likely booked solid. Also, I hope you weren't expecting low crowd levels and short lines. You can still have a great time as long as you have a plan, like;

Get to the parks EARLY, hopefully at rope drop, and get all rides in during that time.

Go back to resort in the afternoon for a rest or a swim.

Head out in the evening for a nice dinner somewhere, then stake out a spot for viewing fireworks, a parade, or some seats for Fantasmic, etc.

If CR has a convention going on, they will hold rooms up until 30 days before. Check back at that 30 day mark when rooms on hold will be released.

Also check back at the 45 day mark since people with package reservations can cancel up to 45 days without penalty.

I've been trying since the new year to upgrade my GV room to a LV or MK view at the Poly, and no luck either, so far.

Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

Call every day- it's possible you'll get what you wanted.

We tried to book our trip to AKL (Feb 8-14) around Christmas. However, our AAA travel agent was on vacation for 2 weeks. When she came back, there were no rooms- anywhere. A day later, we called, and got POFQ. We were still disappointed, so we called back the next day, and got AKL. We wanted Savannah view, and it was standard view, but it was still a miracle. So don't stop calling- as long as you have an open mind, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Actually looking at the WDW calender they are expecting it to be rather busy.

The Disney calendar suggested this week as a "great time to visit Disney" (the highlighted calendar). In fact, rates drop on the 30th, then go back up on the 8th. Maybe everyone booked it because of that.

Look at the MK operating hours for that week and you can see the extended hours they have set.
The best times calendar that you were looking at has nothing to do with crowd levels.

As others have said that time period is in the heart of Spring Break time. I can't imagine Disney not selling full inventory of rooms. The WL and the CR seem to be the 2 deluxes that sell out the fastest. But keep trying. You never know when someone might cancel a room. I suggest calling from time to time and checking the web site from time to time. I have had luck doing that.

I just checked Disney's site. (5:17am cst) they show the WL court yard bunk bed room available for your dates.

Yes rates do drop on March 30th as this is the start of Regular Season. I'm not quite sure what you mean by go back up on the 13th unless you are looking at a discount period. Regular season runs from March 30th to May 21st for Values and Moderates and from March 30th until July 17th for deluxes. During that period rack rate will have 2 rates. Weekdays and weekends.

I looked at the link you posted and if you read the text it says "crowds MAY be the lightest". I'm not trying to discourage you but just know that crowds will not be particularly light. I don't think the crowds will be unmanageable but as one other poster said it may take a bit more planning.
