Can anyone tell me if the RV sites at Ft Wilderness have fire pits? We are new to RVing and do not know what to buy that we can carry with us as a portable fire pit. Anyone have a suggestion???

Thanks!! :wave2:

Well it's not exactly a fire pit, but they do have a little grill there for cooking. You can only use charcoal, no wood burning. I don't think they have objections to your own grill, but I know you can't just build a campfire on the ground.
Ohh and don't forget to bring a hose. The spicket is split into two, one for your water hook-up, and the other has a hose on it for emergencies (like your grill getting out of control).
Now if you want to sit around a toasty fire, they do the movie at night with two fire pits for making smores. Which btw, is ten times cheaper if you buy the stuff before going.
Are you gonna be staying at the preferred site, full-hook up, or partial hook up??
We stayed at the preferred site with our dog, in the 300 loop. Which was really nice. Even though we were there with our itty bitty two person kiddie pop up tent. One of about 3 people there in the middle of the summer with only a tent out of all the campsites. There was even a guy there that drove a motorcycle, that had a one person pop up camper on the back. I felt so "sheepish" there.

No campfires of any kind allowed at FW sites. Cooking fires (i.e. charcoal in the grill) only. The campfire/sing-along program at the Meadows is great!!

We where there last New Years someone had a wood in one of those outdoor fire pits. We always have a wood fire in are disney grill.

In May, we talked to our FW "neighbor" who had an enclosed portable fire "pit" and he said those are allowed.

I was a bit startled the first night I saw it thinking the place would go up in flames since there had been no rain! Anyway, I think he goes quite a bit and he used it every night and no one made he remove it.

He did say it has to be completed enclosed in that screening or mesh.

Thank you everyone for your responses. Sitting around a fire at night in your own site is our favorite thing to do. It is a nice way to wind down from a busy day before heading to bed.

We have seen people with a fire pit and they were asked to put it out and not use it again.

Due to the potential for forest fires, Disney's official rule is no open fires of any kind. Doesn't matter what anyone's neighbor did, or what someone has done and gotten away with in the past. It is clearly written in the Gazette, which everyone gets at check in.

The people with the outdoor fire pits stay there for 3 months at a thay had a big wood pile in front of their site Disney vise came by many of time they talk but was never told to put their fire out.I do not know the rule but just tell you what i have seen. I also have fires every night in my grill.

Thanks again everyone!! I guess no real camp fire at the camp site, that is okay...we will still enjoy being at Disney!!

Before our first time camping at FW I thought I was really going to miss the nightly campfire at our site, but we ended up loving the big one they have at the movie area. It's a lot of fun, especially including the sing-a-long and the movie. It just seemed special. We also enjoyed doing the campfire and the movie for a short while and then going down to the water and watching the fireworks and boat parade. By the time we got back to our site, I was too tired to miss having a campfire!

Have fun!
