A student of mine asked me today to help her with planning because her aunt has decided that her whole family is going to go to WDW the week between Christmas and New Year's! Do they have any chance of getting a room reservation at this point?

Swan and Dolphin have availability at this time frame at a normail price or www.lastminutetravel has availability at Boardwalk, saratoga, Old key west, beach and yacht club and Wilderness lodge but your gonna pay for it! $597 a night!
Good Luck!
I had a friend ask me to help them plan a trip last Oct. for the week of Christmas. Only very expensive rooms were available online. She ended up calling different travel agents, and one must have had some rooms because she was able to get into POR through one agent when others didnt find anything less than a suite at CSR. I would just start right away looking online at different websites and checking with several travel agents. Good Luck.
They want to stay at a deluxe, I think. I looked online tonight through Disney's website, and it said there were no rooms available in the deluxe resorts during that time. Should I tell them to talk to a local travel agent or would it be better to try through an online agency? I've never had this problem before, because I always plan several months in advance! I can tell them what to do once they get there, but this problem is beyond my expertise!
They can always call the Dolphin or Swan directly. They are owned by Starwood (Westin and Sheraton). I checked their website before posting this and they have rooms available. Their numbers are WDW Swan (407)934-3000 or WDW Dolphin (407)934-4000 or www.starwoodhotels.com.:surfweb:

Swan and Dolphin are excellent hotels, just be aware that you cannot use Magical Express or get the dining plan when staying there since they are not owned by Disney. Good luck.
Is she a member of AAA? If so, I checked on some rooms ( I put in dates from Dec 25, to Jan.2, wasn't sure what her dates were) and found some rooms at a few of the deluxes. Some of them were starting at 475.00. I just joined AAA and I have no idea if their site is up to date on showing the rooms. I really don't know how it works. You can join on line and it is not expensive. Any TA can help book those rates. Like I said, I don't know how it works, or if those rooms are really still available. She needs to act quickly though.
