I know they cancel fireworks for wind but do they cancel for rain? What about Candlelight Processional?

We are going down this coming weekend and the 10 day shows rain. We had planned to be at DCA on Saturday and DL on Sunday. We were going to watch CP and the fireworks Sunday but that is the day they are predicting the most rain. I am wondering if we should leave DCA early and try to see CP and the fireworks on Saturday instead.

Does anyone know? They are predicting rain Saturday as well but only a slight chance.

I believe they are cancelled if it is raining. Though a drizzle may not cancel them; it may delay them.

Kelmac...
I am with you 100%.
Our plans are very similiar.

I have my poncho's at the ready, but if they cancel Candlelight Processional on Sunday due to rain... AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! :scared1:

It would be a crushing dissapointment, to say the least.

This is my last trip to Disneyland for a long while.
Ireland next year.
Scotland the year after.

Let's hope for the best (in weather)... I already expect the crowds to be atrocious.

May your trip be a fine one! :cool1:

Hey kelmac--

Just FYI, they WILL cancel the fireworks due to rain and/or heavy winds. I agree with another poster on here earlier, they will delay the show due to light rain. But normal to heavy rain/wind - no fireworks. :sad1:

If you really want to see the fireworks and you have a better forecast the day of DCA, I strongly suggest you leave early and head over to DL to catch the show. DCA is NEVER packed to capacity (I heard from multiple CM's that Disney is going to do some serious re-vamping to DCA due to low attendance - We were just there last week). You can do everything in DCA and still hop over to DL!!

Good luck and happy planning! :santa:

Yeah I think that is what we are going to do. Our plane is due in at 8:30 on Friday night. We are hoping we can be to the hotel (from JOHN WAYNE airport) in time to try and see the fireworks Friday night. If not we will def try to go see the 8 p.m. candlelight and fireworks on Saturday just in case. They are predicting rain on Saturday as well but not as much, only 30%. I think it is so ironic too because it rained quite a bit when we were there in Oct. We had Mickey's Halloween Treat Tickets. We arrived on Thurs and were there Friday through Monday and it started raining that Fri for the party (had to buy the umbrellas) and then rained again most of the weekend.

In fact we tried to do the Jedi Academy twice on that Monday and they cancelled due to rain. We did see the fireworks that weekend but I have seen Remember many times. We are really only able to see them Sat and Sunday because we arrive so late on Fri and have to leave early on Monday and of course it is supposed to rain BOTH of those days.

I could even live without the fireworks though but CP is the main reason we are going. I am just glad now that I didn't pay for the dinning. We are just going to try and horde our way in. But I think now, as I said, we will try and leave DCA early and catch the 8 p.m. show in Saturday just in case.

and I agree Disney Dad. We can easily do DCA in a day no problem. Especially by getting there at opening. In fact the ONLY reason we are doing it on Saturday instead of DL is because Saturday are usually much busier days but what we might do is go to DCA and do everything we want to do there and then hop over to DL once we are done.

Boy 2 days just isn't enough but we were just there in Oct and the main reason we are going is to see CP and the fireworks so I am not even going to worry about rides and such.

Thanks everyone. I pretty much figured that that was the case with the fireworks and I don't know how they will handle CP but I assume if it is pouring they may cancel. Esp since there are 4 shows. If it is not bad for the first few but worse for say the last one I would think they may cancel that one etc.

Thanks again and good luck to those of us going!!

They definitely cancel the Snow even if it is only lightly raining becuase it makes the walkways very slick. We will be there as well on Fri, Sat and Sun, but our group arrives early enough that we hope to be in the park on Friday night for the fireworks.

For what it's worth:

10-day forecasts are practically meaningless. Weather patterns being what they are in SoCal, it is rare that a 5-day forecast of rain is accurate -- let alone a 10-day. In fact, even a one-day forecast is hit-or-miss. Many times we go to bed at night being told that a storm front is barreling towards the Southland, only to find that, come morning, it has veered inland before reaching us.

Also: I just checked the most recent forecast on weather.com, and they are predicting "Mostly Sunny" for Sunday the 2nd, with a high of 63.
