Do they assign seats on regional jets?

As I mentioned in another post, Delta recently changed our flight from an MD-88 to a Comair regional jet (50 seater). When I pull up our itinerary, our seat assignment is "not assigned". Will seats be assigned at some point, either before or at the time of check-in? I hate the idea of a mad scramble for seats with 2 young children. I know you good people on this board will have an answer for me - thanks.

Yes, there is assigned seating. Call Delta Reservations and request your seat assignments - they may already have assigned them but if not, you can do it before you get there.

Just wanted to let you know-personally I love those little jets. So comfortable to fly. But my opinion is a little biased-before them our airport was flying ATR propellor planes.

They are assigned. Call and get one/or check if they have been assigned. Sometimes they do not show up on the website right away. (They also sometimes don't assign if they have overbooked and cannot assign everyone a seat.)

I've never taken a regional jet into MCO, but hubby and I fly out west to dude ranches and have always had assigned seats. Just be aware that if it's a really tiny plane, some of the rows have single seats so you might be in front of or behind other family members rather than next to them.
