Do they allow "Heelies" in the parks?

::MickeyMo We are going to visit all the parks during our May trip and have a 7 year old hockey nut who owns a pair of "heelies" (sneakers with wheels in the heels).
Does anyone know if they are permitted at the parks?

I know they don't allow rollerskates so I don't believe they will allow the sneakers that have wheels in the soles either. But you could always call and ask before you leave.

I actually saw a bunch of kids with them on in several of the parks. Most of them seemed in control of the movements. They were for the most part going slow to stay with their group, you know roll a little, walk a little. I just wondered how they walked in them. :teeth: I'm really not sure if they were "legal" but I didn't see CM's ask to take them off.

We're staying at Contemporary and Beach club next week. Anyone know if either of these resorts...or nearby ones (such as Boardwalk) rent bikes? I'm sure I can get a adult bike... but I'm wondering about a bike for a 7 year old...possibly even with training wheels. Anyone know?

And while we're on the topic, does the Beach club provide golf carts for getting around?

Thanks!

We were walking on the Boardwalk last week and so a van full of bikes being repaired so I think they might have been for that area. I think I saw bikes for kids and adults but don't quote me on it I didn't see training wheels though. As for the golf carts I'm not sure. The best bet is to call the resort. I have found that calling the resort directly gets you more info.
Hope this helps.

BW rents surry bikes, but they aren't easy to peddle even for grownups

There is bike rental over at WL. I'd schedule your bike riding for you CR stay over that the WL. Call about the training wheels.

Someone had written a while ago to Disney and was told that the "heelies" are not allowed because they fit into the same category as skateboards, in-line skates, etc.
Since the wheels are hidden though, it would be pretty hard to enforce.
We did see a couple of kids with them during our last trip. One was well behaved and just sort of scooting around with his family, staying out of people's way. The other was making a nuisance of himself, rolling down inclines, ramps and nearly hitting quite a few people. His parents never said a word to him, but I can't see how they were not aware.

For the other questions, the only resort that has golf carts is FW. Many of the resorts have bikes to rent (training wheels and all). I don't think BC has any to rent except the surry bikes right on the Boardwalk. BWV may rent some at the Community Hall area (sort of near the BW pool)

I thought "heelies" were the people who ran their strollers up your heels from behind. They are definitely permitted in the parks. :rotfl:

He loved having them and wore them into the parks the first day or two without a problem. But he decided to roll through security at Epcot and they had him stop and remove the wheels and told him they were not allowed in the parks. From then on he wore them only around the resort and walking to/from MK. We did continue to see others in the parks using them though.

I was actually more worried about going through security at the airport with them but they just had him take them off and put them through the x-ray like they usually do with shoes.
