I have not stayed in a value in Many years and wanted to know before I lugged a big-o cooler with us..

Do the Value resorts have frig's in the room or do you still have to rent them?

TIA

You have to rent them. I think they cost $10/day. You can also bring a cooler or buy the white styrofoam ones at a grocery store. We did this and filled it with ice in the morning, when we came back from the parks and before bed. Never had a problem and kept everything cold.

A Baby's Best Friend (www.abbf.com) offers them fo $50 for the entire week, and it is a great size too. The freezer section worked great for us to freeze water bottles ahead of time for the parks. Great value and they deliver to the resort before you get there.

We used to take the cooler but now we do this and it is so much easier than schlugging ice each day. Here is a photo from their website: http://www.abbf.com/equipment.php?item=refrigerator

If you need the refrigerator for medical reasons, there is no charge. So if you needed to keep some medicine cold you could just tell the front desk and they will get it for you.

Not all fridges are dorm size--there are shoebox size ones for medical purposes. Not sure when Disney started this but assume it had something to do with most medicines do not require a larger fridge. Maybe they cost less for Disney to purchase and since they don't recupe any of those costs it cuts their "loss margin". And also--wait.....zipping up flameproof suit........ok..going in..there were people who probably indicated a medical need/medicine need who umm. well, MAYBE didn't really have one to avoid paying the fee. Just my $.02

The picture of the fridge is the same size fridge we got during our stay last year at Disney. I called to have one added to my ressie (willing to pay the 10.00 a night) and told the CM I needed a fridge for baby formula and she told me that she would note that I needed it for medical purposes for the baby and that there would be no charge. I told her it was not a medical situation and she said well you need to keep it cold..I did not argue with her, and I got an $80.00 fridge for free. :goodvibes

I am not getting a fridge for this trip we will do the cooler method... :thumbsup2

Yeah, the medical fridge is about the size of a large toaster. Have not seen the size in the ABBF photo at the resort. You said you received that size? Cool.

There was some rumor going around that the values would have fridges by 2007, but not sure how much truth is in that. Maybe I will post the question on the Rumors Board. . .

does anyone bring their own? we have a small dorm size fridge, about 2 foot square...would save us $60

yes it was the same size as the pic and it was black. The mousekeeping put it beside out bed so we could use it as an extra night stand. It stood about 2 inches shorter than the nightstand in between the 2 double beds at the ASMo. If that gives you an idea. Some friends of ours went 2 months before us and they got the same kind she showed me pics of it because I too had heard that it was TINY.
