Do the Rental Strollers have straps?

The title says it all. Going in 26 days - yay!! I have read all the pros/cons on taking your own or renting, but I thought I read somewhere on the boards that the rentals don't have straps.

No straps....If you have a toddler that will not sit without straps, these rentals are not for you. Way too easy to escape! They are good for the little bit older kid who gets tired walking for long periods of time. Also, if you need for your baby to nap, the rentals might not be too comfortable.

Wow. I'm glad I saw your post because I hadn't thought of straps and I plan to rent for our April trip. Thinking about renting for my 3.5 yo ds and bringing lightweight single for my 2 yo ds. Or maybe renting double for in parks and bringing umbrella for other places. Arrggh! Just not sure what to do! Anyway, I saw pics of the strollers at http://allearsnet.com/pl/strol_faq.htm and they DO appear to have straps Good luck in your decision making!

We used them at every park in December and the DO have waist straps. They do not have shoulder/chest straps, which are nice when you have a younger toddler who might try to escape!! I agree with the other poster though that they are not nap-quality strollers unless you have a kid who will sleep anywhere.

We have always taken our own stroller and would not think of renting one. Our favorite has been the Chicco caddy. More expensive than the cheap unbrella type, around 50 bucks, check amazon etc. It comes with a rain cover -one that fits completely around the stroller and has velcro ties and is GREAT. It is tall enough so we can stand upright behind it and we bring a little collapsable coller on the handlebars which has pop holders on the top and a small pouch area for the autograph book. Everything is protected from the rain with the cover and it folds down to easily. Not sure how many trips, but has stood up well going up/down countless curbs, rough areas in Animal Kingdom and Universal Studios ( if you've been there you'll know how rough the streets are) Total investment around $55.00, which adds up to only a few days of rentals. The advantages of having our own stroller. (1) A free cart to carry small luggage in and out of the airport, little one always wants to pull her own suitcase in the airport (2) easy transportation to and from busses, it can be a long walk to the busses from your room and to the park entrance with a sleeping child (3) you dont have to stand in line when you enter the park and really helps at park opening when everyone without a stroller is trying to rent one (4) something to lean on while you are waiting in a line, for a bus, see a parade etc. We use ours for everything, getting drinks for everyone from the food court, carrying in snacks/water etc from the rental car.

If I remember correctly, they do have a waist strap but it seemed pretty useless. I don't think it would hold a younger escapee type kid in for a minute. If you have a child that likes to escape, I would not recommend the rentals. We didn't use the straps at all since with our kids last year (they were 5 and just turned 3) and they did fine. Actually, it was nice having them able to just jump in and out in between attractions.

Just got back last night and we used the rentals for seven straight days at all three four of the parks. All of the strollers had straps. We were amazed at how easy the strollers were to use actually. They rolled easier than the Graco we have at home and they were roomy. DD5 and DD2 were able to jump in and out to get in lines or go on rides or even to get pictures. We had one Evil Kneivel incident with DD2 but that would have happened with or without straps.

Rentals are $16 per day if you pay for your whole trip up front and it is money well spent. We did not have to fight with kids AND strollers on busy buses and we did not have to woory about loading all of the gear onto a small umbrella stroller.

P.S. The strollers at MGM are different and they still push well and are roomy but the tops are wierd and we did not care for them. If you set soemthing on them, the fell down. We were able to set our bag on the top at the other three parks which really helped to identify our stroller from the rest.
