Do the princess dresses for girls run out before Halloween?

We have moved our next visit from September to mid October. I want to surprise DD with BBB but is there any issue with running out of dresses as Halloween approaches? Or do they know their inventory and keep everything in stock? Are the dresses out now the same ones they will have for the rest of the year? Are the park dresses the same as at the Disney Stores?

Parks dresses are not the same as the ones in the Disney stores, typically. They are more expensive (sometimes higher quality, but not always) - usually $65 at the parks versus $50 in the Disney Store for a standard-issue dress. The only time I've ever known them to run out of dresses was in the Frozen Mayhem of 2014 when the Elsa dress disappeared for six months.

Thanks! It will be her Halloween costume so I’m nervous about waiting so long. She really wants to be a princess so I thought this would work well to get it. I remember Frozen mania so at least she doesn’t want anything crazy popular. She’s actually leaning toward Aurora but hasn’t decided for sure.

We've gone the week of Halloween and I don't remember any being out of stock, and they had all sizes. If she goes and they don't have her size, you're kind of out of luck in that regard, so if we've wanted a specific dress I called ahead to make sure they usually had the right size in stock (last time she wanted Elena of Avalor.)

I generally agree that unless you child wants to be whatever the super-popular character is for this year, they'll probably have the dress available at DLR in mid-October. I haven't noticed that they roll out any special line of princess dresses specifically for Halloween, but they do, at times, introduce new designs. My guess is that Aurora, being an older character, won't be out of stock even close to Halloween.

Do you have access to the Shop Parks App? If you look up Aurora, you can see the two designs that they currently have (at WDW, but probably also at DLR).

And keep in mind that multiple shops carry the costumes, so if, say, the BBB location is out of your size, check World of Disney or one of the others.

It seems that they typically release new styles around or after Christmas - at least, that's when I usually see the older styles go on clearance sale.

Is the ShopParks App a separate app from the Disneyland App? It shows you the park merchandise separate from what’s on the Disney website?

Yes...the Disneyland App is for guests in Disneyland Resort. It has wait times, tickets, mobile food ordering, etc. I don't think you can order merchandise via the Disneyland App.

The ShopParks App allows guests to purchase Theme Park merchandise. Note that it's mostly geared toward Walt Disney World, but it does carry some DLR merchandise. A lot of merchandise is "In Store Only" which is unfortunate, but at least you can see what things are available (at WDW, but some things are the same at both parks). You can also get your AP discount (if applicable) when buying stuff from ShopParks. This has come to replace Merchandise Mail order.

ShopDisney.com and the ShopDisney App are the old DisneyStore.com and they're tied to the retail Disney Store that you find in shopping malls. They do carry some Theme Park merchandise, but again, it's more focused towards WDW and there is far less items. No AP discount, but they honor the Disney Visa discount (10%) and often times have sales and other deals.
