Really do the math with Disney's latest discount. It may not pay off to book longer.
I booked the 4 nights, no bigger discount when adding a 5th.

It has something to do with it or what? But regardless, watch your numbers. Disney is sneaky here!!!

Different dates, resorts, such will vary, of course. But for this particular booking, that 5th night would yield no savings for ME.

The rate you show for each stay is an average of cost per night for each night of the stay. One night of the 5 day stay might be less than the nights in your 4 day stay (weekend night possibly), so it brings down the average. Nothing sneaky at all.

The 4 nights is a 15% discount off the standard rate of $321.00.

The 5 nights is a 20% discount off the standard rate of $339.40.

The standard (non-discounted) rate increased for the longer stay. As others have said, likely because of the additional weekend night. Thus while your discounted average nightly rates are very similar, it's a larger savings for the 5 night. It seems you didn't do the math but simply looked at the final average per night.

Booking for Yacht Club saved us money per night adding the 5th night. Maybe because the added night wasn't a weekend night, but the math worked well for us.

I am basing it on a per night basis, that is true. I also look at Sunday night as not being a weekend night, even though technically it is.

In your rush to complain about Disney, you’re ignoring 2 important facts. First, Sunday & Thursday rates are higher than Monday - Wednesday. These are the rates for a water/ pool view 5th sleeper. So yes, adding a more expensive night matters.

Next… the 2 screen shots you posted as comparison of 4 & 5 night rates are 2 different room categories. The first is a standard view 5th sleeper. The 2nd is a water/ pool view 5th sleeper. Water views are always more expensive than standard. So the nightly discounted rate is indeed higher considering you added a more expensive night in a higher cost room is the same average rate as a less expensive room for less nights. Actually, the average nightly rate with the discount is $1.50 less per night in the more expensive room with the discount.

Comparing apples to apples…here’s the water view 5th sleeper for 4 nights. Definitely a higher nightly rate for 4 nights vs 5. The standard view 5th sleeper doesn’t show for the 5 nights, so I can’t post that comparison.
