Im a bit concerned about the large tour groups that are predicted to be there while we are in early July, do they also get free DDP when they book (or even pay for ddp). I do not fancy being in any of out TS places and then be swamped by 60 odd cheering teens. If they do does anyone know which places they usualy go to eat.

They generallly do not get free dining or even the dining plan because they get room discounts if they book as a group. Youth groups often also get vouchers for CS meals as part of their group booking.

I don't recall free dining ever being offered in early July anyway.

free DDP and QSDP are available for international guests- I know I've already booked for 7/1/12- 7/14/12 with free DDP ;)

OK, for the British guests....but likely not for the large groups. They do much better booking as a group than they would booking individual packages for each party member. Also I don't know how many of those large groups are British...I recall most of them being South American. The British free dining offer is only for residents of the UK.

Hi have just check the booking conditions it does not mention anywhere the need to be from the UK. Infact the following is a cut and paste from the site

For guests who made a Booking with the Walt Disney Travel Company and who live outside the UK, in Europe, an additional charge of £10 per Booking will apply to cover additional costs to deliver Theme Park Tickets and Hotel/Villa documentation. If the balance remains unpaid after the due date, we will cancel your Booking and you will have to pay the cancellation charges as set out in Section 11.

We have known people who have booked from the caribeen islands through this site and have had no issues at all. They arranged to have there tickets sent to a uk address to be forwarded on to them as the UK agents would not post outside EU. But they were open and up front about were they lived.

Doesn't matter. The large groups won't be booking packages. they get too good a deal on the rooms.

Groups don't get free dining. We have friends who have traveled with a couple of different sporting groups and they aren't eligible to book general public discounts. They'd lose their group benefits, which are usually better, and in some cases (Pop Warner) the group's contract with Disney specifies participants have to make their travel arrangements through the group. Since the South American groups are guided-type tours I assume that the participants are similarly locked into the bookings that the tour company makes, rather than going off on their own to find the best deal.

Now with sporting groups you'll find some families that do book their own travel even if their athlete is booked as part of the group. I know a Pop Warner family who does that to get free dining for the family when it is offered in Dec - their son registers for a room with his team, while they make their arrangements on their own because free dining is more of a benefit to them than the group discount.
