Do the hotels have generators? Worried about Irma!

Thanks again all. Lots of good suggestions. As far as food goes we have a delivery scheduled from WeGoShop for Saturday afternoon but now wondering if/when they will be able to come to us and also if they will even be able to get the food that we've ordered. Thanks for the suggestions to buy from the gift shop or wherever, I'll definitely look into doing that. But again, we're not arriving till Saturday afternoon so we may not be too lucky in that department either. :sad2:

I'd bring some food with you. tuna pouch, PB, protein bars.. I would need more than just cookies and chips if I was stuck in the room for 24 hrs. But I'd bring the junk food too. LOL

We always bring frozen food in a cooler along with snacky stuff in our suitcase, mostly cause we've cheap.

Hi yes I definitely agree with that. I would bring extra food and led flashlights. We always order from garden grocer and have it delivered to our hotel at Disney.

Good luck and please update how it's going once you're there.

I am a crazy packer and whenever we go on vacation we bring a Coleman LED lantern - it is so bright and it has 4 lights that you can detach from it to walk around. I pack extra batteries. Like everyone else said bring a lot of water and food. I would bring food to sustain you - protein bars, peanut butter and jelly, etc. We have friends at the Poly now and they definitely have people cancelling but telling them it is business as usual. They were making our friends feel comfortable that they will be well taken care of. It will definitely not be crowded. I pray you have a safe trip.

WeGoShop doesn't display any hurricane-specific information, but according to the FAQ:

CAN I CHANGE OR CANCEL MY DELIVERY TIME AFTER I HAVE PLACED MY ORDER?

  • Yes, but you must call and speak with your local WeGoShop.com location to make the change. You must call at least 3 hours before the scheduled delivery time. Sending an email may not be sufficient enough to stop your grocery order from being processed.
Maybe call them, not to cancel but to determine their plans?

We were at Jambo House for Charley. You will feel quite safe and the staff preparations were interesting. Since there is a lobby at Jambo, characters visited and the cultural ambassadors gave presentations. We were all given a bag dinner and a drink. Lots of guests were trying to buy board games and entertainment for the kids in the gift shop. My suggestion would be to pack Uno or other card games that don't take up much luggage space. We did have to fly out of Tampa since MCO was closed and rental cars were at a premium.

I was at Disney World in 2005 for Hurricane Wilma. Our hotel never lost power, and they closed the parks for part of one day. Disney handled everything very well communication wise. One benefit of having a hurricane go through is that it tends to chase people away, with lots of folks canceling their trips. It was actually one of our best trips ever, surprisingly! The crowds were the lowest of any trips we ever took. And the weather turned out beautiful! (Except for the storm of course.) It was very hot and humid before the hurricane, but afterward it was in the low 80s and almost no humidity.

OP, I wonder if you can have your WeGoShop delivery time changed to Saturday morning? Bell services will hold your delivery including your refrigerated items in their fridge, until you arrive. It would be worth a call to WeGoShop to find out if they can deliver early.
