Do the characters ever ride the rides?

I've seen Alice and the Mad Hatter riding the Mad Tea Party and Goofy and Max taking the first ride of the day on the Barnstormer.

We rode Snow White with Seven Dwarfs back in 1999. It was the middle of the day, and they happened to walk up just as it was our turn to board. I don't know if there was a special circumstance (like a MAW child or something else special happening), but one of them did get in a seat with my DS. That was the highlight of his day!

My daughter got a private meet and greet with Belle during our trip in May - they had become friends on a previous trip and I wrote Disney about her and she in return invited Julia to come see her at the castle - after about 15 minutes in the castle - she invited Julia to ride the Tea Cups with her:

Goofy and Max rode the Goofy Barnstormer roller coaster when we were there last time. I am amazed that they could fit with their costumes, but they did. :rotfl:

Rafiki rode on the train with us to Rafiki's Planet Watch at AK. The kids sat next to him and he interacted with them. (And I made both of my kids sit on one side of him so someone else could sit on the other side.)

Awwww... those pictures are so adorable. How special and wonderful for Julia. :)

My dm, dd and I rode the last ride of the night on the land ride. At the last moment Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale all jumped in. Chip and Dale caused all kinds of "trouble" and Mickey had to stop them over and over. It was really funny. There was only one other couple on the ride and we had a blast!

On the Family Magic Tour, does every family get to ride with a character or is it 1 character for the whole tour?

When we were on the tour it was one character for the whole tour.

We walked onto Pooh one morning and saw Tigger coming through in one of the honey pots-- then the next pot had Pooh, he rode with us! It was hysterical, because he sat between our 2 boys who were 16 & 13 at the time! They were good sports! Pooh would cover his eyes during the scary part and giggle at other times. SO cute!

You guys who got to ride with the characters are all so lucky. I just love those pictures of Julia and Belle. What a special memory!

We were also lucky enough to get to ride the Pooh Bear ride with Tigger early one morning. He was acting crazy wiggling all around (dancing?), and we thought he had too much coffee with breakfast. Personally, I think it would be fun to see Piglet ride Tower of Terror..he-he! princess: pirate: :earboy2:

Alice in Wonderland road on the Tea cups with us. I had left my camera in the stroller, so she walked with us to the stroller afterwards so my girls could get their pics taken without waiting in line.

:)

Of course, Alice scared me half to death when she started talking to us before the ride. We were in the cup and she snuck up behind me. Okay, she didn't really speak up--but I couldn't figure out why someone was talking to my daughter ;).

We had 2 characters Peter Pan and Wendy - The tour is limited to 20 people - in our group we had 15 - 7 kids and 8 adults. Peter and Wendy spent about an hour with our group telling stories, signing autographs, taking pictures and playing games with the kids. Each child got plenty of one on one time with them - The characters sat with the kids at Philharmagic and all were happy. So it is a small group that goes on the tour and there is plenty of special attention to each child even if the child doesn't get to ride right next to the character on a ride. It was definately the highlight of our trip in May - the kids are still raving about it - It cost $25 per person and they only do one tour a day. You can get a discount if you have AAA or Disney Visa - we used Disney Visa and got 20% off the price.

I never thought about characters riding on the rides. That would be so awesome to be able to ride on a ride with a character. Imagine sharing a ride with Stitch! With his antics your stomach surely would be aching from laughing.

What is a Family Magic Tour??

My DD3 rode with Pooh on the Pooh ride in 1999. They walked up at 10:00 AM just before their meet and greet across the way. We rode, then he took her by the hand and walked her to the meet and greet and she had private access to Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore for about ten minutes until they let the line in to see them. They did a lot of dancing.

Also, this isn't a ride, but we were staying at the Poly and our first day there we were at the pool and Goofy and Pluto came riding up in a boat. They docked and bounded to the pool area and jumped IN the pool, costumes and all!! They interacted with all the kids, and WENT DOWN THE SLIDE!! They swam and splashed for about ten minutes, then waved goodbye, hopped in their boat and headed toward the GF. I can't even imagine how heavy those costumes were at that point!

Our DS had his "first date" with Wendy on Peter Pan's Flight after completing the Family Magic Tour in 2003.

The tour is at the MK, cost $25/person (at least in 2003) and is a 2 hour tour where you go on a scavenger hunt through the MK with a CM for a guide. It involves some goofing around, like playing follow the leader, and at the end a private character greeting. On our tour there were about 15 of us with only 3 children, two sisters (about 8 and 6) and our DS who was 11 1/2. We were greeted by Peter and Wendy, so Peter took the sisters hands and Wendy took DS by the hand and we all followed them to Peter Pan's Flight and rode. It was great....at first people looked at us like "what are they doing?" but as soon as the characters appeared in a roped off area, people wished they were us. Peter even told some folks who asked for autographs that he was on a special mission but would be near the (whatever attraction he is usually near) later that day to sign. Really made the kids feel like big shots. It was lots of fun and we'd do it again, but would like to have a different character.

Hi there,
We rode w/Pooh early am in 2002. I can't figure out how to attach the pic. I've tried before, but I get an error message about the pic being to big. if anyone knows how to reduce the pixels or whatever it is..let me know and I'll attach it. It is great. It was DH, 2 dd's and myself :):)

Our 2 DD's got to ride Peter Pan's Flight with Belle after doing the Family Magic Tour. Peter Pan was actually suppose to show up, but must have been busy ;) . Anyway, it turned out better that Belle showed up. She took each of our DD's hands and walked them over to Peter Pan's Flight. Everyone was looking at them wondering who our DD's were. It was definitely a magical moment :flower:
