Do the changes in the DDE make you want the DDP?

I'm just curious! Have you had that bad of service at WDW that you asked them to adjust your tip? And, did they do that for you?:confused3

Well, it was never anytime that a tip was automically included, but yes, we've had a few times that the service was so bad that we spoke to a manager about it, and left no tip. I'm sure that if service was so poor that you spoke to a manager about it, and told them you wanted the gratuity removed, they would gladly do it for you. They want the customer to be happy, and the managers know when the server has been giving poor service.

I used my DDE card at Artist Palette (SSR). Isn't this considered CS? If so, that might change things a bit. I don't tip 18-20% there and I don't feel I should, because I stand in line to order my food, then stand in line to wait for it, and then clean up my own mess!

I don't think that they are going to charge a mandatory gratuity at the counter service places. There are only a few of them on the list of DDE restaurants anyhow.

Disney has released the following information. Their new policy is applicable for DDE cardholders and Applies to parties of any size. Here is the text from the email.

Many of you have expressed concern about the 18% gratuity that will be added to all Disney Dining Experience transactions. When using your Disney Dining Experience membership card the assessed gratuity will be added to all table service restaurant locations and lounges for all transactions regardless of party size. Gratuity will not be added to any counter service, food cart or quick service locations. In the past, gratuity was only implemented for larger parties of 8 or more for guests utilizing their Disney Dining Experience membership.
This adjustment to the program has been implemented in order to align the Disney Dining Experience Program with other dining experiences where gratuities are included. Effective January 1, 2008, when utilizing your Disney Dining Experience discount 18% gratuity will be added

This thread is being relocated to the Restaurant Board here on the DIS since it is not a specific Disney Vacation Club policy. Thank you.

Why would I want the DDP instead?

I think it would only make a difference to DDE members 1) who are very interested in controlling how much they tip or 2) are used to tipping less than 18%.

The DDE card has become easier to acquire and 18% tip is being added to all meals--DDE, DDP or otherwise.

If anything, I think the DDE continues to provide a better value than the DDP. YMMV.

It has not been conclusively decided that an 18% automatic gratuity is being added to all meals. Right now it's only known for sure that the autograt is being added to the bills of DDE members.
